A little while ago I posted a photo of the Fleur-de-Lis scarification that Wild Skin had done — I forgot until today that he’d sent in video as well:

This photo (from badhairdo) of her self-done scarification (cutting and skin removal) taken the morning after is kind of neat in its bloodlessness…

Don’t get me wrong — I think that scars across faces look great. However, I wonder why people choose to have “lifestyle scars” applied by professionals rather than “by life” (see also: dueling scars and defensive wounds). Cutting by Ben at Future Skin in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

I think this scarification by Josh Burgh at Blue Horseshoe Tattoo in Virginia Beach really pushes the limits of how much skin is safe to remove at once. That’s a lot of exposed flesh to ask the body to heal, and would put enormous strain on the immune system. I think if it was me I’d do it in sections, but, at the same time I’ve seen other large removals heal very nicely.

I like this DIY skin removal gallery, done by David Hoffman at Ink Gallery in Tennesee. The thing that struck me, outside of it being a nice photo, was that I can’t wait until I have noticeable wrinkles and lines in my face. It can add so much more character to a person’s face.

I imagine the this scarification by Steve Truitt at Stay Gold Tattoo & Body Modification and Ascension Studios in Albuquerque, NM must be just amazing from a tactile point of view… I have a series of branded stripes up my torso, but these are much nicer!

That’s gotta hurt, tan0k. By Peta at Angel in Moscow, Russia. Goddamn do I feel like I’m less the barbarian I’m genitally destined to be every time I meet a Russian. Hardcore.

There’s something about chaos stranded on a smooth surface that I just love about randomly violent scars on smooth skin. Really beautiful. Thanks to midiwife from Brighton, England for this photo. Oh, and that sweater is crazy. Kids these days…
