A tattooed person suspends from hooks, laying flat, one leg higher than the other. Their head is back, and they seem to be smiling, dark hair dangling like an anime character.

  • Valentine’s Day ModBlog Post

Well, it’s Valentine’s Day again, but this is the first year in maybe ten years that I’ve been alone… Every time I hear a floorboard creak my first instinct is that it’s Rachel coming in to the room, but of course it’s not. In any case, not to dwell on the sad things in life, so here’s a gallery of some of my favorite heart tattoos that have been submitted over the years to BME.

  • Nintendo Gameboy Tattoo

    Now that’s a geeky tattoo!

Thanks to The Eternal for sharing his new tattoo by Bear at Exotica in Florida. He also has “NERD” and “DORK” tattooed on his knuckles…

  • Website Tattoos

How about a couple of tattoos inspired by websites (not counting BME logo tattoos, which I think are a little different maybe because they’re more inspired by a subculture than a website)… IAM:bebe dog (who is also called Shannon and is also from Toronto) had this tattoo of their own site (now expired I think) done by Gen at Planet Ink in Toronto, and Atomika had Andy Enos at Old Anchor Tattoo in Portage MI do this toothpaste for dinner comic.

  • A few more geeky tattoos

Following up on BME’s extensive coverage of geek tattoos, here’s a little geek loving for you by Aric at Viva Tattoo in Rochester:

“Bite me” tattoos aren’t that uncommon, but maybe this is the first “byte me” one I’ve seen… Hello? This is 1983 calling — I want my computer club t-shirt back! Thanks to Tim for sending this tattoo by Glenn Scott in Dayton, Ohio.

Or how about a computeriffic sacred heart?

This tattoo below (done at Last Rites) is on a whole group of people — the 1337 KR3W I suppose? I’m not sure if it’s tongue in cheek right now because part of me thinks that if you claim to be elite, you’re probably not. That said, I’m a dude with a ’74 Corvette with a license plate that reads L33T so don’t think I’m not in a glass house!

I like this haxor tattoo the best though because it doesn’t take itself too seriously:

That was done by Universoul Mutations in Cadillac, MI.

  • Konami Tattoo

Since I just posted about an Electronic Arts / EA gaming tattoo, I thought I ought to also mention this Konami tattoo. Shawn writes,

"Ever since I was a young boy, I thought the Konami logo was one of the coolest symbols I had ever seen. The simplistic swipes and its meaning, 'little wave', were to me very stylistic and interesting to see. I'm in a band called Temp Sound Solutions, and as of now to this point, I've written five full albums of video game covers, a lot of them being from Konami games."

"A few years back, I lost a good friend of mine who I was mainly in touch with over the Internet. We were friends for years and years. Another friend wrote a record called 'Konami' that we both adored and my friend's initials were 'S.S.', which I thought was very similar to the Konami logo. I got these tattoos to commemorate my friend's life and our bond of the love for music."
