This pretty intense navel piercing, buried vertically, deep in the tissue, is by my old friend Toro, who I once got implants by… Which is a long unpleasant story unfortunately, like pretty much all my implants it seems!

Measure Twice, Pierce Once
Written by
This is what happens when you use a barbell with small beads that’s also too short. But it was worth it because the piercer that did this charges $10 less than the guy down the street with experience and an APP membership. Right? Always accept the lowest bid when your life — or at least your beautiful face — is on the line. Yeah, there’s some great advice. Now I think I’m going to go out and get the cheapest haircut I can find.

Bignutt?
Written by
Rachel’s piercings were done by Chris “Bignutt” Jerbasi (should I ask how he got that nickname?) at Al Tattoo in Franklinville, NJ. I’m sorry, she’s very pretty and all, but now all I can think about is the legend of Bignutt. I don’t know if he’s a bulk baby juice factory or if he’s got a hydrocele or what… but Bignutt.
I am so immature.

Arm Nipple Piercing
Written by
Earlier this year I posted a photo of an unusual piercing (a nub on the end of an incomplete arm) that I really liked. I had meant to post an “in context” photo much sooner, but better late than never. I’ll say again that I’m always really happy when people have fun and take control of a part of themselves that others have likely given them a hard time about (that said, I am guessing this piercing is no longer in place)…

Pendant Piercing
Written by
Steve Truitt at Stay Gold Tattoo and Body Modification in Albuquerque did this piercing back in May (it’s fresh in these pictures) using an in and out barbell (like a surface staple bar but with a few extra bends) so that the customer could attach his pendant to the centre of his chest.

Mohawk and lip piercings

Medusa and vertical labret by Alex at Red Rocket Tattoo in New York City. I don’t know why, but I really like this photo. I think it reminds me of good times back when I worked in a studio or something…

Rejecting pocketings
Written by
They look great, but unfortunately they’re not lasting… Pockets and staples are a difficult mod to get to settle nicely (especially in that placement). These were done by Dan at Divinity Tattoo in Scottsdale, Arizona.

Ear Agony
Written by
This swollen and uncomfortable looking ear is from a staph infection of unknown origin. Ultimately it resulted in a week of hospitalization while on three simultaneous antibiotics to kill off the very serious infection. A thing to remember about stretched lobes is that they can act like “the canary in the mine shaft” for a lot of people &mdash if you’re getting a cold, your ears may get a little irritated first, and so on. Or in this case, be the rupture point for an infection (hopefully moddoctor will pop in and comment with something less medically amateur).
