Fark is currently running a Photoshop contest on “futuristic body modifications”. There are some clever entries (but sadly most are pretty lame), but what’s especially funny to me is that some of the modifications are far from “futuristic” to BME readers — things like eyelid piercing and tongue tattoos. Most of the time genital bisections have enough scarring and inaccurate cutting to hide the original underlying anatomy, but sometimes I see split penises that are so cleanly done that they might as well be part of an anatomy text. In the one below you can see exactly where the urethra once was, as well as all of the internal functional elements. Click the picture to unpixelate it.

Tian that runs the always funny “kanji debunking” blog Hanzi Smatter has been keeping me updated as to the many errors that show up in BME’s kanji tattoo gallery. Here are a few recent errors:
 Thought it meant: Chaos slogan Actually means: Nothing, due to missing dot. (Tian speculates that artists are sharing bad flash) |
You’ll see plenty more examples on Tian’s site, with many being poorly rendered characters, often mirrored or inverted, with missing strokes and dots making them meaningless. See also: Twenty Kanjis
