A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.
  • Does anybody got a dime?

Somebody’s gotta go back and get a s#!t load of dimes!

Thanks to Twigboy, the number of Blazing Saddles tattoos in the world has gone up by one.  Today is a good day to work up a number six.

  • Alone in the dark

Every time we see photos from The Sinner Team, there’s always a smiling dread-locked man somewhere in the background.  Well that man is Stanislav, the leader of the team, and guinea pig for some of their riskiest suspensions (like the free-fall suspension we saw a few months ago).

Today he’s somewhere in Russia, deep underground, setting up the rigging for what could possibly be a sensory deprivation suspension.  Hopefully we’ll see some photos of the suspension itself, but for now, here’s the handsome devil himself, in all his night-vision glory.

On a somewhat related note, Allen over at Suspension.org recently updated the suspension crew listings trimming out any broken links.  So if you’re looking for a crew in your area, be sure to check it out.

Now if you’re looking for a tattoo or piercing studio, BME411 is your one stop resource for finding the studios in your area.

  • Heroes in a half shell

If this hadn’t have been submitted to the galleries and I had seen it somewhere else I would have sworn it was a sticker or some kind of transfer.  It’s probably just James Pruitt‘s choice of a white outline that makes it pop as well as it does.  In any case, James definitely made some TMNT fan very happy.

  • Open your mind

yfirgefavona’s chest tattoo reads “Love yourself, open your mind”.  It’s a great example of how a lettering tattoo can be transformed into an abstract art piece.

I’m not sure if the cherry blossoms are a part of the piece or if they’re intended to be covered up.  In any case, Freak Mike from Swastika Freakshop in Germany did a great job and the owner says that the tattoo “has made me love myself more than I ever have”.  It’s that sentiment alone that makes this piece exceptional.  Too often are we caught up with how a piece of art can affect us, we can easily forget how important it is to the person who has it for life.

  • Made in Australia

You can take a man out of Australia, but you’ll never be able to take Australia out of this man.

Scarification artist Anders, who is also a proud Aussie, carved out this particular scar.  If you happen to be around the Gold Coast, stop by Flesh Impressions to pay Anders a visit.

  • Is it the mustache that makes the man?

Or the really freakin awesome tattoo he’s rocking on his ribs?

This is a custom piece by Lionel Fahy, and it just blows me away.  You really need to check out the miscellaneous tattoo gallery to see the rest of this piece.  Not only is the work unbelievably unique, but it also incorporates his anatomy directly into it.

  • Crossed Legs

Some lovely legs with beautiful corseting for your Tuesday morning.

Not too sure who owns the disembodied legs, but the man behind the piercings is Peter Kovács from Skin Workshop Tattoo in Miskolc, Hungary.

There are quite a few more photos of these legs in the corset piercing gallery.

  • Ecstasy in Grey

I got a message a couple days ago from Allen telling me to check out the work of Dallas artist Mike Tidwell from Hold Fast Tattoo.  What caught Allen’s eye was this piece, a greyscale replica of Alex Grey’s “Ecstasy”.

Given how intricate Alex Grey’s art is, Mike should be commended for such an accurate recreation.  Let’s hope we see more from him in the future.

  • Calling all Python Programmers!

With all the responses we got with our last job posting, we’ve stated to make great strides towards getting the BME World Tour videos from Japan translated.  We’ve got enough translators now, but we are still looking for someone to fill the position of Lead Programmer for BME.

BME has spent the last 3 years redeveloping its web presence from the ground up. Throughout the process there have been a lot of detours as well as the predictable bumps in the road. BME is looking for a lead programmer to integrate with our development group that has helped to program the new site. You will work with our current company to learn the new site as well as to help finish the deployment of all of BME’s 2.0 rebirth. After the development company has been phased out, you will be responsible for maintenance and changes to the existing site and software. You will also be responsible for programming new features, debugging and developing/programming new sites that will come with BME’s growth. As BME doesn’t have a “main office”, all of our staff work from home. This is a big bonus for most of us and has worked well over the past decade.

    Requirements:

    • Diligence and attention to detail.
    • Multi year senior level programming experience in python (as well as C/C++).
    • Core competencies in Python.
    • Excellent HTML/CSS/JS skills and an interest and awareness of emerging web standards.
    • Superb problem solving skills.
    • Good knowledge of SQL
    • Expected to maintain, enhance and install our custom application stack.
    • Expected to be able to manage the whole life cycle of product development including public facing and deployment.
    • Experience with linux based web architectures.
    • Experience in Java and .NET an advantage.
    • Experience of deploying and maintaing websites with Apache, Linux, and either Postgres or MySQL, and development with frameworks such as Django.
    • A real appreciation of clean, well-tested, well-documented code.

    Useful Experience:

    • SQL database management
    • Database administration
    • Linux administration

    Benefits:

    • Working in a mod friendly and positive environment.
    • Working in a small private company with international reputation in the Body Modification Community.
    • Exposure to some of the most exciting aspects of the industry.
    • You can work from home! This can be a part time job for extra income while you maintain a full time job as unfortunately, BME isn’t in a position to offer health care, 401k or other retirement benefits.
    • You won’t have to come into BME HQ but you will have a ticket to attend BME’s main events (BMEfest/ModProm etc)!
Please send your resume, availability and salary requirements to [email protected] with the subject line “Python Position Applicant”.

Of course a post wouldn’t be complete without an unrelated image, so here’s CajunKourt’s recreation of Giger’s “Pisces”.

  • Dawwwwwww

    It’s a boy!

SteelGirl and Cucuy brought baby Aidyn into the world on Jan 24th this year. In addition to all of the modification galleries, BME celebrates the people, and as such we have many galleries dedicated to the community and the wonderful things that go on in it.
