A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Josh’s Permanent Pinkeye

Of course you know my friend Josh, who was one of the three of us who got the initial eyeball tattoos. That first one was done via an injection, a difficult and perhaps risky way of doing it. He had a friend attempt the procedure using a cosmetic tattoo machine with mixed results as you can see below (or not see due to the ink colour). They’re going to try again with a regular tattoo machine, although I still believe personally that injection (if you’re not looking for a design, as such) offers the most dramatic results.

I had to read the caption before I realized what the pics were about and the truth of the matter is that I like the blue better. That said, I’m not sure I could sit still while someone came at my eyes with needle/tattoo gun/etc.

On a side note, I showed my son the blue eyes and he was engrossed. Naturally the first thing he said was ‘I gotta get those’. And as much as I like modification I pointed out to him that he has much life to live (or at least decide upon- if he did turn his eyes colors it might affect things like jobs in the mainstream and let’s face it, most jobs are in the mainstream, at least at first) BEFORE he even thinks about it.

So… has all the blue totally disappeared now?
Is that the same for the other two subjects / methods that were trialled with the blue dye experiment??

strawdog – The blue is on the other side of his eye, so you just can’t see it in that picture.

Oh, I wanna see both sides — please??

I love being able to watch this experiment unfold. It is the coolest mod I’ve ever seen. I know I say that every single time the ModBlog features it, but it’s so true.

How’s your eye doing, Shannon? So glad you’ve got the cojones to be a pioneer for the rest of us! 🙂

Follow the links back and you’ll see more of his eye… I posted an animation of mine on BodyTwo, so when I am able to I’ll repost all of that here.
