A tattooed person suspends from hooks, laying flat, one leg higher than the other. Their head is back, and they seem to be smiling, dark hair dangling like an anime character.

  • So, you pee like a girl?

“Rob” has an interesting take on a urethral reroute that I haven’t quite seen before, which is located at the base of the penis. The procedure was performed by Mac “Doctor-Evil” Mccarthy. I recently had a chat with “Rob” to discuss the process he went through, and why he decided to get such a modification. Continue reading after the break for more (NSFW!).

Originally he wanted a placement I would consider to be more common for a reroute, behind the testicles and scrotum exiting through the perineum, but the artist suggested a slightly higher placement so healing would be easier, and it would be easier to flush out the area of the urethra that would no longer be in use. After a great deal of thought inspired by his relationship at the time and mishaps sitting down to use the washroom, he felt this modification was perfect for him.

“Now the one thing that I totally admire about the guy who was about to work on me, was his attention to detail. The meticulous detail that he went through, to make sure everything was in the right place and ready, was fascinating to watch. It filled me with confidence and put my mind at rest.”

The incision itself was cut and sutured with the help of a sound placed in the urethra during the procedure. “Rob” says he could feel every cut more and more as the artist went deeper. The healing process was pretty uneventful and trouble-free, after a couple stitches pulling through the first night. After a number of months, he decided to start wearing jewellery through the incision and the unused part of the urethra. He says it feels great, and having sex isn’t even as difficult as some may think. “Rob” has many more future genital modification plans, but in the end he desires a full penectomy and eventually wishes to be castrated as well.

  • Nip-B-Gone TV Special

Mac “Dr Evil” Mccarthy, a full-spectrum bod mod artist at Punctured in Wolverhampton recently did a nipple removal (or a “nipple skin removal” might be a better way to put it because the “body” of the nipple is still there under the surface as is all the glandular tissue), which of course I’m in full support of if that’s what someone wants to do, and he posted some very nice pictures of it as well. But where he’s got my paranoia freaking out in overdrive is that he did it on camera for a television show. I think what body modification artists may forget in today’s world where these procedures have a high profile and a history is that technically speaking, there is a line somewhere — and I can’t say for sure where that line is — that when you cross it, you’re legally in the medical world, and there are a broad range of criminal charges that can be thrown at you. It’s rare, but it does happen. It’s why in “the old days”, modification practitioners (“cutters” being the term more common at the time) rarely put their name on procedures, and instead had their customers discretely refer qualified customers to them to stay a step away from potential prosecution.

Time has shown that overall the authorities would rather leave us alone, especially if we keep our heads down. The few charges than have been filed have usually resulted from complaints being filed by pissed off parents, or from an artist getting too high a media profile and becoming “impossible to ignore”. And I worry so, so, so, so, so much that when you put yourself on TV doing procedures than a great many people would claim are illegal to do without medical training (whether that is true or not is a complex matter), you stick your neck out so far that it’s gonna get chopped. That you get so loud that they can’t ignore you. Trust me, I of all people know how fun and how ego-satisfying it is to see your name up in lights, to be able to show off the supercool extreme mods you just did, but trust me also, that I of all people can tell you how soul-destroying and miserable it is to be dragged through the courts. It is not an experience I should wish on anyone.

Now, if someone is charged, you can bet that I’ll do everything in my power to defend and protect that person. And I am quite certain that BME, BodyMod.org, and the grass-roots bodymod community would rally to protect them as well. But all things considered, I’d rather not see that happen. Odds are nothing will happen here. But it’s playing with fire. I really want to encourage mod artists to be careful. Don’t get complacent and assume you’re safe. You’re putting your ass on the line every time you help someone realize their modification dreams. You’re sacrificing your safety to help others. It is a noble thing you do. Please keep yourself safe so that you can keep on improving people’s lives.

Anyway, let’s put those dreadful thoughts out of mind for a moment, and get on to the super-cool procedure!

I know some will point out that the cuts do not fully follow Langer’s lines to minimize scarring, but I believe the justification on the cuts was to minimize the amount of tissue removed to make closure easier, and in any case, since the removal is in the middle of black tattooing, any scar that does form can be easily tattooed over in the long run anyway.

  • Scalp-Crown Demon Ridges

While the vast majority of people choose the classic “horn” style forehead implant first made popular by The Enigma, there are an infinite number of ways horns and ridges can be applied to the skull. Some are very natural, some are aesthetically challenging, some are aggressive and hostile, others are alien and serene. I am definitely partial to this nice high set of ridges, a pair of triple half-beads, that Moscow body artist and implant maker Max Yampolskiy (FB/max.yampolskiy) created for his first “demon” client, photographed here at 23 days. They almost remind me of Swirly Wanx Sinatra’s ridges, but pushed much further up on the forehead, which gives them an appearance that works perfectly with the shape of the client’s face. They really look remarkably natural, as if he was born with them, which I think is a sign of aesthetic success.

In this second photo you can get a clearer view of the exact shape they’ve used.

  • Facing Pain

Just a word of caution before getting into this post.  Facial suspensions are extremely dangerous, and have only been successfully attempted by two people, both of whom put in an extensive amount of research and training (we’re talking years) before even throwing the first hook.  They can easily lead to serious injury, death, or a cheesy John Travolta/Nic Cage film.

With all that said, let’s check in on what Supa and the Kaptive8 Suspension Krew have been up to…

To see more of this amazing suspension, keep on reading.

As you saw above, Supa suspended using three hooks in his face, however the suspension didn’t start out that way.

In recent months Supa has been experimenting with transformation suspensions.  We even saw one earlier today.  This particular suspension started out as an 9pt modified coma.  From there, Supa transitioned into a vertical suspension without changing any hooks.

From there the lower hooks were cut away, leaving him suspended only by the three remaining hooks in his face.

At this point I’m fairly certain that Supa is in fact an alien, or possibly some new species of human, as he’s pushed himself (and suspension) into incredible new directions that a few years ago we would never have thought possible.

And just to reiterate, facial suspensions are extremely dangerous and should not be attempted without extensive research and training.
