A tattooed person suspends from hooks, laying flat, one leg higher than the other. Their head is back, and they seem to be smiling, dark hair dangling like an anime character.

Good day, folks! We should have an exciting announcement (that some of you may already be aware of) a bit later on, but let’s kick things off this week with this cutting work by the one, the only, The Absolute (more from Iestyn). What you see cut into Alice‘s arm up there is a Vajra, which, as the infallible Wikipedia explains, is a weapon “that has the symbolic nature of a diamond (it can cut any substance but not be cut itself) and that of the thunderbolt (irresistible force).” Indiana Jones will be by to battle you shortly, Alice.

After last night’s beautiful, colorful sleeve post, we took a (very scientific!) vote and decided, hey, how about another one? We’ve featured Terry Ribera’s work before, and it is almost singularly gorgeous, and this under-the-sea piece is really no exception. An underground tree, a giant crab and a little boy riding a mermaid who’s looking into a pearl/crystal ball? Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop huffing paint.

And now, folks, it’s time to turn in for the evening, leaving behind a fine day of posts in our wake. Let’s finish things off with his bright and colorful bio-mechanical piece by Chris Krahn, he of the namesake Krahnic Body Art in Boise, Idaho. My favorite part? Has to the be the whirlpools on the elbow. And I know I’ve said it before, but man, isn’t it amazing that that’s what we all look like under our skin? The human body is a marvel and a mystery, truly.

Continuing on with the recent trend of excellent Marvel-themed tattoos we’ve been receiving, we’d be remiss if we didn’t share this X-Men sleeve by the good folks at both Tattoo Mania and Fine Line Tattoo, both conveniently located in The Netherlands! It’s always funny when we get similar pieces in a short span of time that were almost surely not influenced by one another—I guess once the idea’s out there in the ether…oh come on, you all saw Waking Life, didn’t you? No? Whatever.

Check out the remainder of this glorious mutantry, after the jump.

A few people mentioned in the comments for yesterday’s tiger post that they weren’t big on animal tattoos, but that that one had turned them into believers. Well, apparently Sean Karn at Fuzion Ink in Norfolk, Virginia, wasn’t satisfied with converting just a few of you, so he’s shared this wildlife sleeve, which is really just pages from National Geographic that he glued to a client’s arm is one of the nicest pieces I’ve probably ever seen. Also, that morose water buffalo on top looks like it could use a hug.
