Check out this interesting facial scarification piece on ManiacAluf. It looks like a fairly deep removal, so I imagine it should make for an impressive scar down the road. The scars were done by Roland visavajara freiburg who made this in Zürich (InkTank).

On Modblog we feature some of the most amazing artistic scarification in the world. Yet, we often overlook the rarely updated ritual cutting and ritual branding galleries when looking for pictures to feature. In these galleries the scarification is rarely about the finished result and usually about the process.

This scarification piece on Svenna (who apparently hates raccoons) is of Euler’s Identity, a mathematical equation known for it’s “mathematical beauty“. I read the wiki entry on it (twice) and I still have no clue what it means. In fact, I get a headache just thinking about it. Nonetheless, while I have minimal appreciation for mathematical beauty, I definitely can appreciate modified beauty and this scar is an excellent example of that.
This scar was done by modblog regular Brian Decker. He did the fill in with a hyfrecator as opposed to the more commonly used flesh removal technique. As you can see through the progressive pictures, the piece healed amazingly even. As an added bonus, according to Brian the hyfrecator method is also far quicker.

I understand her scepticism. I am generally of the “bold will hold” mindset , especially when it comes to scars. However, with the caliber of some of the artist that do these detailed cuttings, you should not be surprised to know a lot of them heal magnificently.
A perfect example of that is this awesome cutting that was done by Jonz of Sideshow Tattoo in Boise Idaho and Wayde Dunn.

When I saw this cutting, I wanted to post it, but I assumed it was from an anime or something of that nature. Rather than risk upsetting some anime geek like Mason, I wanted to make sure of what it was I was posting, so I checked with the man who did this cutting. It’s not from any anime, it was drawn (and cut by) of one of our modblog regulars, Efix Roy and is based on no character in particular.
If you want a cutting done by Efix, he is based out Quebec at D-Markation Tattoo & Piercing.

He was the first person to correctly cite the album featured in this post as Faith No More’s Epic. Since I said whoever named the album correctly would be a “modblog star for a day”, here is his moment of internet stardom. It turns out he has been featured two times previously, but this one is different. This feature is about the man in the pictures, not just the pictures.
Nihilist, describes himself as:
“Beer drinkin’, whiskey chuggin’ S.O.B. Ramblin’ man. Love kitties. Hate humanity. Jobless/Homeless. Anarchist. ”
He seems like my kind of guy. In fact , that’s the kind of description I could have used for myself a few years back during my angsty youth period. Well, except the jobless/homeless part, I have always been way too into gadgets and creature comforts for that.
Here’s a tattoo of his that would have definitely been worth a modblog post all on it’s own. This “corporate zombie” was done by Duff at Studio City Tattoo in Studio City, CA.

This well healed scarification piece on IAM fanasien is the Auryn Symbol from the movie “The Neverending Story“. It was done by Wayde Dunn approximately 4.5 years before this picture was taken.
I like this scar for several reasons:
-It’s bold and should look good for a long time to come.
-It’s well incorporated into a tattoo, which adds great contrast.
-It’s a subtle reference to one of my favorite childhood movies.
Now if only someone would get “A Christmas Story” themed scar, that would be amazing! Maybe a red ryder bb gun, a orphan Annie decoder ring or a leg lamp, I am leaning towards the leg lamp…

It’s surprisingly hard to write a modblog post when a homeless person is outside your window yelling about the color of the bricks on your building. I’m tempted to yell down to him “those aren’t bricks, it’s stucco” just to see what he says.
Indy sent in some photos of a scarification he did recently in Brussels, Belgium. I’m sure he’ll send in some healed photos once this piece heals up.
