I know it’s not an option for everyone, but I really feel like the heart of body modification — the evolve yourself meme — is in DIY procedures, be it DIY at home, or guided DIY in an apprenticeship.

Maggie had these hearts cut for her by (obviously, since it’s signed) Howie (Luna Cobra). When I say “loose” I mean the design’s big loose strokes, which I think will leave a nice organic shape in the end… so you won’t quite know whether it’s an intentional heart scar, or if it’s whipmarks that just happen to have healed that way…

This large electrocautery brand is freshly done in this photo, by Shawn O’Hare at Fillmore Tattoo and Piercing in Fillmore, CA. Visually I love the placement, but depending on the way she scars it might be hard to get it to heal evenly… (Note for the not-sharp-eyed: check out the microdermals too!).
