A tattooed person suspends from hooks, laying flat, one leg higher than the other. Their head is back, and they seem to be smiling, dark hair dangling like an anime character.

  • You call yourself a Misfits fan?

Damn!!!! I really think this is the most intense facial tattoo I’ve ever seen in terms of radically transforming a person’s interaction with the rest of the world… and speaking as someone with a facial tattoo, I definitely feel like this is going to be a shock to his system. Very, very intense; I’m seriously impressed at the size of his FTW balls… Turning your face into a death mask is, just… wow…

Click for a closer view of these facial Misfits skull tattoos by Frank at Derm FX Tattoo in Montreal. Seriously, I wasn’t going to post today, but when we got this submission, I just had to share it. Wow.

  • Tribal Facial Tattoos and Beards

This photo got taken of a Swiss guy at the London Tattoo Convention this year… I like the juxtaposition between the three looks — tribal guy, aging biker/rock guy, and dude in a suit — but I also wanted to say that almost always facial tattoos look better with a beard. I’m not sure why… I think maybe it’s because a beard sits “over” the tattoo in the z-index, so it pulls the tattoo deeper into their being aesthetically.

  • Traditional Facial Tattoos

Tattoo Joe at Physical Graffiti in Bridgeport, CT has probably done more neo-tribal facial tattoos than anyone else I know… Here’s one of his more recent ones (more of this person are in his portfolio on BME).

  • “Steve’s Real Face Emerges”

Steve had his old face replaced by husband and wife team Colette and Rob Thompson — each did one side — at Holy Mother in Atlanta, Georgia.

  • Microdermal Forhead Mohawk

Thanks to John Durante at Laughing Buddha in Seattle for sending in this shot of a great looking set of microdermals (imagine something half way between a transdermal implant and a dermal anchor if you don’t already know the technique).

  • White Ink Facial Tattoo Project

I’m loving where iam:pillpoppinfun is going with his (brand new in this photo) facial tattoo! Anyway, it’s a long weekend in Canada, so I’ll probably post next on Tuesday.

  • Abyssinian Tattoos Part II

I recently posted a historical article mentioning that in Ethiopia, mostly women get tattoos. John Durante sends in this photo of him and an Ethiopian client of his at Laughing Buddha in Seattle, Washington. I thought I’d posted it in the past, but I couldn’t find it — my apologies if this is a repeat.

  • The miracle of dermablend

Personally I prefer Bronte without the makeup (and thus with her happy facial tattoos), but sometimes you have to go out and do things in disguise to use the invisible but still very real “whites” door instead of the “colored” door. Oh, and as a point of amusement, these are pictures she sent her dad in response to the “how are you going to get a job?” question.

  • Mark Mask in Brasil

    Photo: George Zix, Sao Paulo.

(I’m continuing to test things; more later today).

  • Pinky

What a happy photo! The ear star tattoos are by Jen at Wandering Canvas, and the lip piercing by Matt at Checkered Past in Red Lion, PA.
