A tattooed person suspends from hooks, laying flat, one leg higher than the other. Their head is back, and they seem to be smiling, dark hair dangling like an anime character.

  • Eye Spy…

Now you’ve got to be asking yourself, what could possibly be so interesting that I’d need to open up my horribly outdated copy of photoshop?

Well, lets put it this way.  I couldn’t decide if it counted as a wildlife tattoo or not, but it definitely is some kind of animal.

This interpretation of a scorpion was done by Jackie Rabbit, Star City Tattoo, Roanoke, VA.

  • Out on a limb

This is, quite simply, one of the finest lizard tattoos I’ve seen.  The color palette used in the leaves, combined with a design that gives a feeling of movement, really made this one stand out to me.

Now my Google-fu was weak today, so the best guess I have as to the type of lizard is a flying gecko.  I’m hoping the artist, Roger from Star City Tattoo in Roanoke, VA or perhaps some herpetologist will be able to identify it.

  • Quoth the raven…

This interesting take on a raven comes from Brendan Boswell, out of Kingsland Ink, in Auckland NZ.

It reminds me of stencil graffiti, like something Banksy would do.

  • Baking is for the birds

Silverzs here was cooking up a storm when someone decided to take some photos of her sleeve.  I really love how the red pops out amongst the birds and clouds, and for a while I thought that the lines were actually fresh scars.

Bob Parr from Jaded Angel in Ames, IA is the man behind this creation.  You can see more of it in the wildlife and nature tattoo gallery.

  • PANDA!!!

Arad Bert from Kipod Tattoo in Tel Aviv made me grin from ear to ear when I saw this tattoo.  Probably because I just watched the Panda Cheese commercials last week.  Regardless, this is a great tattoo from one of the many talented artists at Kipod Tattoo.

  • Flora and Fauna

Check out this incredible shoulder piece by Jackie Rabbit from Star City Tattoo in Roanoke, VA.

I love the little details she included in this, like the ants crawling across the petals of the yellow flower near the bottom.  The floral tattoo, and wildlife tattoo galleries both have the full sized version of this piece if you’d like to see it in greater detail.

  • Pinup Thursday

It’s been a while since we last saw a photo of ilovehanson, and this Kansas beauty is looking as stunning as ever.   You can see the other new photo of her in the BMEGirls Gallery.

Photo by Jen Young from Atomic Photography, Lawrence KS.

  • As the dragon flies

The thing I like most about this piece sent in by Cyber Tattoo Israel, is that it only covers half of the back.  With the vast majority of upper back pieces being symmetrical, a little asymmetry is nice.

  • An elephant, a squid, a whale and a hippo walk into a bar…

I’m sure there’s a joke in there somewhere, but it certainly isn’t this tattoo.

Tattoo by Matt Kramer from Mind’s Eye Tattoo in Emmaus, PA.

“Please apply to the lead programmer job opening at BME”

Tattoo by Thorn Reinsmith from Mind’s Eye Tattoo in Emmaus, PA

BME has spent the last 3 years redeveloping its web presence from the ground up. Throughout the process there have been a lot of detours as well as the predictable bumps in the road. BME is looking for a lead programmer to integrate with our development group that has helped to program the new site. You will work with our current company to learn the new site as well as to help finish the deployment of all of BME’s 2.0 rebirth. After the development company has been phased out, you will be responsible for maintenance and changes to the existing site and software. You will also be responsible for programming new features, debugging and developing/programming new sites that will come with BME’s growth. As BME doesn’t have a “main office”, all of our staff work from home. This is a big bonus for most of us and has worked well over the past decade.

    Requirements:

    • Diligence and attention to detail.
    • Multi year senior level programming experience in python (as well as C/C++).
    • Core competencies in Python.
    • Excellent HTML/CSS/JS skills and an interest and awareness of emerging web standards.
    • Superb problem solving skills.
    • Good knowledge of SQL
    • Expected to maintain, enhance and install our custom application stack.
    • Expected to be able to manage the whole life cycle of product development including public facing and deployment.
    • Experience with linux based web architectures.
    • Experience in Java and .NET an advantage.
    • Experience of deploying and maintaing websites with Apache, Linux, and either Postgres or MySQL, and development with frameworks such as Django.
    • A real appreciation of clean, well-tested, well-documented code.

    Useful Experience:

    • SQL database management
    • Database administration
    • Linux administration

    Benefits:

    • Working in a mod friendly and positive environment.
    • Working in a small private company with international reputation in the Body Modification Community.
    • Exposure to some of the most exciting aspects of the industry.
    • You can work from home! This can be a part time job for extra income while you maintain a full time job as unfortunately, BME isn’t in a position to offer health care, 401k or other retirement benefits.
    • You won’t have to come into BME HQ but you will have a ticket to attend BME’s main events (BMEfest/ModProm etc)!
Please send your resume, availability and salary requirements to [email protected] with the subject line “Python Position Applicant”.
