A tattooed person suspends from hooks, laying flat, one leg higher than the other. Their head is back, and they seem to be smiling, dark hair dangling like an anime character.

So, i’ll confess that, upon seeing this tattoo, my initial reaction was something along the lines of, “Well, that’s … literal.” And then I noticed “xkcd” in the image information, and realized … I’m just a jackass. Context, after the jump.

  • Do My Balls, Mama

Well, we featured this excellent Angus Young tattoo by Amina Charai of Bright Side Tattoo in Copenhagen, Denmark, earlier in the week, and these wild-eyed flamingos are more than worthy of a mention as well. You know what kind of flamingo wears a bow tie? The best kind.

Another Charai piece, after the jump.

On the bright side, I’m thrilled that an artist as talented as Jesse Smith of Ghostprint Gallery in Richmond, Virginia, took the time to send in photos of some of his excellent tattoos. On the downside, though, I am mildly concerned by the fact that he’s figured out a way to scour my subconscious and turn my fever dreams into realities. Nonetheless.

  • Your Luck Was Still There

Mamma Tomma of Raven Ink: Studio 2 Tattoo in Portland, Oregon, sends in this picture of a piece she did of nature’s most perfect killing machine. A murderous lion? No. Elephant on PCP? Nope. Chimpanzee on Xanax and Sleepytime Tea? Wrong again. It’s a rabbit, armed with blades, furious about the attention bestowed upon some damned chinchilla. You underestimate the vengeance of a rabbit scorned at your own peril.

  • And I Go in Fear

I’ll confess that I did not recognize this hideous mutant as the “MSI pony,” but was instead attracted to it due to (1) the fact that its coloring is fairly unconventional but quite well executed, and (2) my inexplicable fascination with artistic representations of nightmarish animal hybrids and disfigurements (etc., etc.). And hey, I think this unicorn/fawn/octopus mash-up fits in nicely. For the record, when it comes to my favorite tattoo genres: food and monstrous animal concoctions. Hey now.
