A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

  • A different kind of mehndi

Using a typically mehndi style of flower, this scar by Jesse Villarreal from Main Street Tattoo and Body Piercing in Merced, CA captures the essence of the design in a format that is the opposite of the traditional style.  While traditionally done on the hands and feet, henna is essentially a temporary skin dye which permeates the top layers of the skin leaving the design visible for some time.  With the scar, those layers of skin have been removed, creating a design that will last for the rest of the person’s life.

You can see more of this piece by Jesse in the scarification galleries.

  • Go Yankees!

From what I understand, Yankees fans are some of the most dedicated fans in sports.  Of course I’d argue that the Leafs fans are a little more dedicated, but that’s beside the point.  Last week Brian got to do a small cutting for a Yankees fan to fit perfectly behind his lobes.

Brian’s done quite a few new pieces in the past couple of weeks, so keep an eye on his BME portfolio gallery for when he uploads the pictures.

While you’re there, check out the new portfolio gallery sorting that Jen did recently.  They’re all sorted alphabetically, making it much easier to find a specific artist.

  • Silent Agony

There isn’t much to say about these photos as they pretty much left me speechless.  A big thank you to Arseniy for continuing to send in beautiful images of his body modification related art.

There are a couple more to see after the clickthrough, so keep on reading.

The full sized images, along with several others from the shoot can be found in the lip sewing gallery, which is a part of the ritual galleries on BME.

I highly recommend checking out the rest of the images in their intended sizes, so make sure to log in before you check out the gallery.

  • They’re getting hitched!

I heard on the radio last week that christmas eve is the #1 day of the year for wedding proposals.  Sure enough, this christmas that held true and a couple of IAM members got engaged.  Now, you’ve seen Dirk and JackeeLynn on here before, most recently in their christmas photos.  Now if you don’t know these two, not only do they send in a lot of photos to BME, but they’re also part of the Local Hookers suspension crew.  Here’s a couple of photos from their last halloween bash.  (You can find a lot more in the Local Hookers gallery).

Here’s Dirk enjoying a beer after lifting a cinderblock by his neck.  He also happens to be taking a beating from some lightbulbs.

As for Jackee, she spent the night hanging out with another Local Hooker, Inhale-Exhale.

Of course the best part of getting engaged is the story behind it.  Now I wasn’t there, but from what I understand Dirk surprised her with the ring and something else in a box…

Congrats you two!  When do I get my invitation?

  • He’s a lumberjack and he’s ok

Of course this mountain man is doing ok, look at what he’s carrying home to his cabin in the woods, the adorable JackeeLynn.  I’m pretty sure this may actually be considered porn to some people.  The beard, the tattoos, the flannel, what more could you ask for in a guy?  And of course, Jackee, with her shorts in the winter look, that screams tough, especially when you consider that they’re in Vancouver!

I can neither confirm nor deny if Dirk wears women’s clothing, but I do know he has a passion for hanging around, and has been known to visit a bar or two in his time.

  • Held by Hooks, and Each Other
Facilitators and practitioners — the very people who bring so many suspensions to life — often pour their energy into others, quietly setting aside their own opportunities. • Suspended, Not Silenced
There’s something undeniably powerful about watching someone working through the stages of suspension. We all build up ideas about ourselves—what we’re allowed to feel, how much we’re allowed to express, when it’s okay to break. For some, suspension is not about pushing physical limits its… Read more: Suspended, Not Silenced
  • A Nightbird’s Passage
Some stories take their time, unfolding over decades, through life’s long detours and diversions. But dreams never rest until they’re fully realized. Even after 15 years, Robb knew there was still a suspension experience waiting for him. Something left unfinished, something essential. At the Ontario… Read more: A Nightbird’s Passage
  • What Lifts the Body, Shifts the Soul
First suspensions are rarely just about the body—they’re a meeting point between the physical and the deeply personal. Stepping into this experience isn’t simply about trying something new, but about stepping outside yourself to a version you had always sensed was waiting. I’ve had a… Read more: What Lifts the Body, Shifts the Soul

One of the most powerful things about being at a convention like OSC is the sheer concentration of experience, creativity, and capability in one place.
