  • Flying Sinners

    We’ve got some brand new photos in from Moscow’s Sinner Team.  The crew hosted Black Fly Tattoo’s 6th annual suspension BBQ.  With the help of a crane, they did some pretty impressive suspensions, including this 4pt modified superman, which I believe is now called the flying shrimp.  I’ve seen similar suspensions, but this is the first time I’ve seen it down with 1 point in each knee below the kneecap.  Normally there are 2 points on the sides of each knee.  You can see more photos in the Sinner Team’s BME Gallery.

  • Iron nails

    There’s no guesswork when it comes to knowing what this is.  It’s a straight up crucifix comprised of iron nails and either vine or wire.  The ruggedness of the cross links to the the crucifixion, in which Jesus was beaten and paraded through the streets.  While a lot of cross tattoos use similar imagery, this is the first one I’ve seen using this style, and I’ve got to say, Jackie did a great job creating it.

  • Cutting away obstacles

    Ganesha is a deity the represents a number of things.  He is the remover of obstacles, patron and arts and sciences, and deva of intellect and wisdom.  Portrayed here as a cutting, one could interpret this piece as Ganesha removing the obstacle, in this case the skin, to allow the person to become who they want to be, using the art of scarification as the method of their transformation.  Richard Effin Ivey has been putting out a lot of cuttings with spiritual connotations, and each seems better than the last.

  • Guess What?

    There are weeks when guessing what the image is of is fairly easy.  Other weeks can be a bit of a challenge.  Then there are the weeks where you guess it right, only to find that there’s a lot more going on that you could have possible guessed.  So I suppose the question isn’t just what you think it is, but also what you think could be going on on top of what you see here.

    This week’s guess what is actually a little treat for you from one of the many BME Hard special galleries.  One of the perks of having a full BME Hard subscription is that you can create your own hard bonus gallery.  I got today’s images from Sadistica’s gallery, and it’s one of the more “colourful” endeavours that you’ll find in there.

    Now for those of you who guessed play piercings in a scrotum, you’re right, however there’s a lot more going on that just those 4 needles.

    When we zoom out a bit you get an better look at the whole picture.

    Taking an even closer look, you can see that the piercings in the foreskin go all the way around.

  • On Golden Pond

    Here’s another Jackie Rabbit piece to kick off your Wednesday morning.  What I like most about this is that it isn’t a “standard” koi piece.  Instead of the koi being front and center as the primary focus, Jackie has made it part of an elegant scene.  The ripples flowing outward across the pond are a fantastic touch, as is the large negative space on the left side.  The whole design has a flow to it that defies the asymmetrical nature of the image and her color selection is fantastic.  If you’re ever in the Roanoke, VA neighbourhood, stop in and visit Jackie at Star City Tattoo, from what she’s sent into the galleries, you won’t be disappointed.

  • Rites of Passage

    A couple of weeks back Rites of Passage held their annual gathering in the woods of Massachusetts.  The ROP BBQ is a weekend unlike any other.  All of the suspensions are held outdoors with some of the best scenery you can imagine.  This year Allen Falkner brought his camera along and made this short film that gives you a taste of what happened.  After watching the video, head on over to the ROP BBQ galleries to see photos from this year’s BBQ, as well as images from previous years.

  • Underneath the skin

    Here’s a pair of healed implants done by LoranShumway.  The first is obviously a brass knuckle, while the second is a starfish.  It’s nice to see how well they healed up and molded the skin around the implant.  The knuckles appear a bit white as his fist is clenched, not because the implant is too big.

    So, true story, I just found out 10 minutes ago that Mario’s Tanooki suit is actually based off of an actual animal.  See kids, this is what happens when you grow up without wikipedia.  Now this Tanooki suited Mario was done by Chris from Suicide Kings in Canton, MI

  • Farewell long weekend

    I hope everyone had a fun long weekend.  Judging by a couple of the facebook posts following Bowling with Weirdos X there were quite a few people who enjoyed themselves, perhaps a little too much.  Anyone else feeling like this guy now that the weekend is over?
