A tattooed person suspends from hooks, laying flat, one leg higher than the other. Their head is back, and they seem to be smiling, dark hair dangling like an anime character.

  • “Trust your Mechanic” -The Dead Kennedeys

    Lefrog wrote me with some pictures from a great suspension they assisted for their friend Alan last Saturday. Alice filled me in on the back story, telling me Alan is from the Mutoid Waste Company, and cut the engine out of a van while hanging suicide-style from a crane. Shortly after he finished, the van caught fire and they let it burn out rather than extinguishing it. Alice also suspended (knees) that day, and their friend Mark hung as well. • Maybe the camera lense was dirty

    I’ve posted Andro and his top-notch work before, so I hope he’s not too mortified that I included this piece (sent in by CrustPictures), which I like a lot on a design level but appears to include a rather unfortunate blow-out on the shoulder! [Edit/Update: this blow-out was intentional and part of the piece; see the comments for more.] I like how it crosses through the front of the ear — it also goes right down her arm (check her page for more photos).

  • Cormorant Shoulders

    Erin‘s cormorants on her shoulders were done by Stephen at Lefty’s in Pittsfield, MA. She explains them and the tree tattoo that sits central on her chest;

    “I was shocked when I learned that having a large tree tattooed on my chest would change my life forever. Now people are drawn to my art instead of in awe of my nasty scars. People of all ages and walks of life are attracted to my tree, and the birds have helped to bring peoples eyes up from my chest.”

  • War Wounds

    The three point spiral cartilage piercing that Jay Dee Werland at Tiger Rose Tattoo and Body Piercing in Pismo Beach, California has just installed here is nice and all, but I also like the “studded for her pleasure” marks from all the old piercings… My ear still has those from piercings in the 80s!

  • Backpiece in Progress

    This pretty back piece — the shaded boxes being what really sets it apart from one of a zillion generic pieces — is being done by Chris Dingwell at Sanctuary Tattoo in Portland, Maine.
