A tattooed person suspends from hooks, laying flat, one leg higher than the other. Their head is back, and they seem to be smiling, dark hair dangling like an anime character.

  • Casting Call

Attention readers, BME got this casting call and we’re putting it out there for anyone who might be interested:

I’m looking for some assistance in finding people with excessive facial piercings and those who have had body modification.

Mark Seliger, is releasing a book this year made up of his personal work of nudes, landscapes, still lifes and portraits.   Many of the portraits he has taken are of people with excessive facial piercings or have had body modification.   I have attached some references of those we have already shot.

We often travel for work so if you know of people around the country, please do send any and all suggestions our way.
Compensation is $200 (negotiable) plus a print from the shoot.

  • For Maxime and Sarah

This scarification piece was submitted by none other than Efix. I love the script that was used and look forward to seeing this healed.

  • Someone left the cake out in the rain…

Obscure song reference for a title?  Check.  The following feet were submitted with the subsection “musical reference” checked off but I can’t quite figure it out.  Being the uncool member of BME’s staff, that doesn’t surprise me much.  If anyone knows what it is, please post, I’m curious.  These feet were inked at Big Deluxe in Salt Lake City, by R2.  The submitter tells us, “Caramels & fudge for mom and chocolate & raspberry cake for dad.”

  • Diamonds are forever but are palm tattoos?

IAM member heartonsleevejewelry sent us this photo of his diamond encrusted palm.  The tattoo was inked by Ben Wight of Love Hate Tattoo in Rochester, New York.  I wonder how it will hold up over time.

  • Venezuela in my sights

I love photography.  I especially love photographs of people.  One thing I would never do is edit someone else’s photography to make it fit my version of aesthetically pleasing.  As a photographer (albeit merely a hobbyist), I would be angry if someone edited or cropped one of my photos and I think it’s rude to alter photos submitted to BME, beyond the watermark we add, so finding photos that grab me, as is, is always wonderful.  The photos that I post are, for the most part, ones that are sent to me in a file of photo submissions to choose from and include any information that was also sent in when the person submitted them to BME.  Sadly, that often doesn’t include full credit to the artist or even give the name of the person submitting it but I include whatever information there is every time. I know in a previous post I was brought to task for not crediting an artist but if it’s not included in the submission, I have no way of knowing. So, dear reader, if you’re submitting photos to BME, please when possible, include all of that information because inquiring minds want to know (and it’s nice to give credit where credit is due)!

When I saw the following photo, which was submitted to the scalpelled lip section of BME, I knew I had to post it.  The only name I see as a credit is xemaxtomax and I can’t quite tell if that’s who submitted it, or who gets the credit for the scalpelled lip.  Either way, Venezuela is looking mighty lovely.

The symmetry of these piercings is really quite beautiful.  There’s another great shot of this handsome boy after the jump.

Out of Singapore, Amanda shares both her beautiful ink (by Donald Kwek from Utopia Studio) and her ability to bend in ways I will never know.  Thanks Amanda!

  • Nom!

My dog once ate butter. Let’s just say, it didn’t end well. Luckily, this tattoo by Corey from Black Cat Tattoo does not produce the same results!

  • Don’t cry, mousey.

The tear just looks so real. Poor little mouse. Credits go out to Urge II Tattoo and Dragon FX, both in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.
