A tattooed person suspends from hooks, laying flat, one leg higher than the other. Their head is back, and they seem to be smiling, dark hair dangling like an anime character.

  • Phone home…

I don’t know about you but I still remember how much ET made me cry when I watched it oh so many years ago. This was inked (and submitted) by Ego out of Under the Needle in Seattle. Is it just me or does ET look like he’s about to hop off that Big Wheel and cut someone up? Like maybe he’s saying, “You talkin’ to me? Are you talkin’ to me?” That could be the sequel. ET II – The Revenge!

  • Smile pretty for the camera

Check out this awesome tattoo by Rain Partlow out of Under the Needle in Seattle, WA! All of my tattoo work is done in black and grey but I’ve always admired really vivid colours in tattoos and this one in particular is extremely eye catching. The shading in particular really stands out. I bet the wearer of this one turns a few heads!

Some BME news follows the jump.

I just wanted to post a brief update to let everyone know that I’ve added over 600 new images to BME over the weekend. That’s in addition to the 100-200 that have been added daily. So far today I’ve added another 30 or so and 14 new videos, mainly from the Dallas Suspension Convention. BME is giving away more free content than ever before, all you need to do is sign up for a free profile. You will have access to between 45-100 photos per gallery in each of the following galleries, Piercing, Tattoos, Scarification, Culture and Ritual. With updates happening just about every day, that’s a lot of free content!

I also want to say how much we appreciate both the constructive criticism (key word being constructive) we’ve received as well as all the positive feedback. Often times you only hear the complaints so I just want to take a minute and say a huge thank you to all of the people who have written in lately to say how much they love the new site. We’ve made several changes based on user feedback so don’t ever think you’ll be ignored; as long as you have something constructive to say, our ears are open.

Before I run off to have lunch and go about my day I wanted to mention a couple of things. The first is that I’ve heard that a few people are having trouble uploading photos. I’d never know it by the massive amount of new photo submissions we get daily but apparently it’s been an issue for some. If you’re one of those people, you may simply need to update your flash player to the latest version. It’s quick, easy and free (and recommended not just for our site). If you’re running Windows and using Internet Explorer, make sure you grab the update for that browser as well as any other browser you may use.

Also, I’ve created a FAQ that should help new users and answer some questions about the site. I’ll add more to it as I see a need but for now I just wanted to make sure everyone knew about it.

    That’s all folks!

  • Do you like fish sticks?

Radiobath sends us this colourful Betta inked by Lauchie from Visible Ink in Saugus, MA. Ok, I apologize for the title of this entry. I couldn’t help myself. I really love the vibrancy of a fresh tattoo and the purple shades in this one are gorgeous.

  • Ah bliss!

The look on silentstingray’s face says it all doesn’t it?  That’s a 3 inch plug made of olive wood.  I’m not up on my woods so I don’t know how heavy it is but that’s got to have some weight to it!  And you know what they say, every girl’s crazy ’bout a sharp dressed man!

  • East Coast repping

Ok, I have no idea what that title really means but I was kind of excited to see a submission to BME from my neck of the woods, even if it does make me want to curl into the fetal position and cry. I kid, I have much love for Captain Spaulding. The photo was submitted anonymously but it was inked by Lil’ Dave of Peep Show in Oromocto, New Brunswick. That’s Canada yo! Fun fact. I once got into a car accident (totaled the car, taken to hospital by ambulance) on my way to a tattoo appointment with Lil’ Dave. I never did get that tattoo…

  • These are just a few of my favourite things!

This tattoo really speaks to me.  I have to say it gave me a little chuckle when I came across it.  I’ve been sewing for just over a year now and it’s one of my favourite things to do.  A sad, little known fact about me, lately I’ve been making myself guacamole every Friday night.  So this tattoo, combining sewing notions and avacados just makes me smile.  I can only assume these two things hold a similar allure for Tea_Leaves, who submitted the photo.  The ink was done by Justin Buduo out of Piercing Emporium in Worcester, Mass.

  • Goodbye to you my trusted friend

I saw this tattoo submitted by April_Eileen and knew I had to post it.  While I’m certain this is a memorial tattoo it seemed fitting since my best friend moved away yesterday.  I’ve been feeling pretty sad and this tattoo summed up how I feel quite well.  Luckily, my best friend is only a 3 hour drive away so I will see her, just nowhere near as often.  I can certainly relate to the sentiment of permanent goodbyes as well.  The tattoo was inked by AJ Pell in Fredericksburg, VA.

I have to say, the lettering on this tattoo is fabulous.  I love the soft colour and the watery look of it.  Perfect choice.

  • Everywhere I turn all the beauty just keeps shaking me

It’s been several years since I was in Israel but after viewing the massive amount of photos submitted to BME by Kipod Tattoo Studio in Tel Aviv, I have to say, I hope I get back there! And to Michael, just one of the talented tattooists at this studio, I say this, you’re on notice buddy! If I get back to Israel, I’m coming to see you!

One more after the jump, just because.

  • The mystical scar

I’m always amazed at the variety of scarification work out there. While the thought of actually getting any done myself is absolutely terrifying, I am often in awe of the work I see on others. Benbodhi’s piece is no exception. He got this work done at the 2nd Sydney Expo and I’m assuming it was done by multiple artists as he lists lunacobra.net, joeltron.com and bslice.com under the artist credit.

  • Say, don’t I know you?

This photo was submitted to BME by IndecisiveWeirdo out of Sydney. She reminds me of an actress but I can’t quite figure out who and it’s driving me crazy. Fortunately, I don’t have far to go to get there!

Over the weekend I’ve added about 600 new photos to the BME galleries and 50+ videos. Go check them out! Remember, you can sign up for a profile that will allow you to view even more photos for free.
