  • DIY Hand Poked Tattooing

    Ryan (iam:Archetype), who you may remember from his triple wrist microdermals I featured earlier, did some simple hand-poked DIY tattooing on himself using a three-round and black tattoo ink.

    I’m probably going to continue on doing it until it’s a perfect outline, maybe make it a bit thicker but I do have some hope that when I can get a hold of some more needles I’ll continue to do some more of my own tattooing on my leg and maybe make a piece out of it and ‘call it my own’. I’m glad I did it and it was a learning experience for myself and for my body.

    All of my first tattoos (which are now almost twenty years old — how strange that is) were hand poked on myself, using a needle and India Ink. It’s true, they’re not the best tattoos, and some might argue that they’re close to the worst… but the experience of doing them myself and changing my body on my own was very valuable to me and I still treasure them.

  • Healthy to Hell Overnight

    The picture below on the left is of Chris’s ear after he spent a cold Christmas day outside with his 28mm lobe… Not so happy… He took the tunnel out and left the raw flesh exposed to air but clean and moist for twenty-four hours and then downsized slightly to give the tissue some space to recover (right photo). Thankfully it recovered without complication.

    “I thought the photos illustrated quite well the importance of downsizing stretched lobes when the temperature gets very cold. The transformation from healthy lobe to angry swollen lobe was just one day! It didn’t take long to heal up though… and once it starts getting warm again, I’ll be back up to 28mm and then on to 30mm.”

    Personally, I haven’t worn jewelry in my ears since I decided that snowmobiling took priority over tunnels! Another thing you should do if you’re going to be in the cold is consider switching to a non-metallic jewelry.

  • Josh’s Facial Cutting

    Josh sent me a letter about his facial cutting which is pictured below after it was done — there are some great gory action shots after the break as well,

    This is a project Russ did on my face about five months ago. The three bars are one for each of my sisters — one older, the bigger bar, and two younger ones represented by the smaller bars. It was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had mod-wise, excluding my facial tattooing [done after the cutting].

    If you visit Josh’s IAM page (his main gallery, currently), you’ll see that he’s in the process of doing an entirely fish themed concept body transformation — his face has already been started with scales. He’s planning on doing scalp scarification so his hair grows into a permanent scale pattern, and implanting three dimensional “gills” on his neck as well.

  • Body Modification in Italian Advertising

    My friend Stella in Switzerland found this advertising postcard in Italy, which reads “Ora puoi farti vedere da tutti” — “Now you can show yourself to everybody”. Now, it’s not that uncommon to see advertising with tattoos in it of course, so what I’m really loving is that it’s got a gay bear spin on it!

    What do you do with your hands and feet while in a resurrection suspension?

    You just:

    1) Hook both your wrists in a loop behind your back.
    2) Put both your feet into the loop.
    3) Pull and enjoy.

    He also sends out thanks to Haavve and the Wings of Desire suspension team, which I can definitely agree with! This was done at the December 27th Susday in Oslo.

    My old and now de-boobed friend Lane took this wonderful photo of Tayla‘s beautiful new baby girl Emmalee, born on the 16th of December at a healthy 9 lbs, 7 oz (click here for a picture of Tayla and the father Jared). Emmalee is about two weeks old in this picture.
