A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.
  • LUST

Jannis’s scar was, appropriately, cut by his girlfriend…

  • Floral Leg Sleeve

I’ll ignore asking what’s up with the meat grinder and the kitchen theme and focus on the great tattoo by the folks from Kipod Tattoo and Piercing Shop in Tel Aviv, Israel. Click through for another shot at higher resolution.

  • Joke Lip Tattoo

Dave got this done while serving in Germany by Nikki at Dave’s Tattoos in Kaiserslaughten, which he recommends to fellow military members as a great place to get work done. He says he loves telling people he “got a busted lip down town”… yeah, haha, very funny.

  • Permanent Corset Piercing

Skic at ModifikArte in Mexico City did this permanent — as in using surface bars, so as permanent as you’re going to get anyway — corset piercing. Click through for a second photo of the piercing at an earlier stage.

  • Dropping Hearts

You know, it’s a sign of my general depravity that when I see this very cute, very charming heart-bomb dropping tattoo (c/o Kipod Tattoo in Tel Aviv) I’ve got Nick Manning’s catchphrase stuck in my head… My second thought was “that plane has no pilot!”

  • Tattoo What You Love

…and in this case, Jason really loves his BBQ, a Weber Smokey Mountain Smoker — he owns two of them, which he uses to compete in barbecue contests. The tattoo of his smoker was done by Justin at Finishing Touch Ink in Mattoon, Illinois… I am reminded of this bacon armband.

  • In The Tube

Alexis‘s tattoo is great work but what I’m super jealous of is that he got to play in this very fun looking free diving pool — he’s a free diving instructor! I’d love to hear his input on it, but I’m sure there’s enormous crossover between free diving and suspension and body ritual as BME covers. If you’d like to see the work on his back, continue reading.

  • Satanic Friends

On his own, he’s just a six, but when Brad and his friends get together, they do the devil’s work. Their brands are DIY pieces done with a coat hanger. Before you say anything, coat hangers actually work quite well for branding and are very capable, even in an inexperienced DIY context, of producing very nice results.

  • Math Geek Pinup

Ah, an entry for math majors to fill their fantasies with… Elizabeth got this great start on her fibonacci sequence tattoo with a 3/4″ and 1 1/4″ band, representing 3 and 5 in the sequence (so she’s 2/5 done). Jeff at Oddball in Portland, OR is doing the tattoo for her.

  • “Tattoo, Friend”

This great Ludo (from the movie Labyrinth) tattoo was done by Dan at Amazing Grace Body Arts, Geneva, NY.
