With Autumn if full swing, farmers all over are transforming their fields into corn mazes. Of course in some parts of the world aliens are doing it for them with their wily crop circle ways. These crop circles were the inspiration for this branding by Brett Turner from True Colour York.

Joey Pang entitled this piece “Centered”. I’m not sure if that’s what the character means, or if she meant that it was centered on his back. What I do know is that this is a fantastic example of her calligraphy style tattooing.

Slow and steady wins the race. And while Brian may not be the fastest racing snail, he does make the coolest looking ones. By the looks of the photo I’d say this is one of his cutting and burning combo pieces, with the cuts for the lines and branding for the shading.

It’s not often we get to see eyelid sewing, mostly because of the risk factor, as well as the low level of submissions. While lip sewing prevents a person from speaking, eyelid sewing moves into sensory deprivation territory. Given that only one eye is done in this photo, it’s probably safe to assume that this was the person’s first time with the sewing and wanted to try one eye before moving on to both.

Now you may be wondering why I’m including Lewis Carroll’s Jabberwocky in a ModBlog post. Well, the answer is simple, nbutterf’s tattoo that you see below is the artist’s interpretation of the Jabberwock itself. Ania Jalosinska from Mantra Tattoo in Cheltenham, UK designed this particular piece using only the poem as a reference.
Given the poem’s nonsensical language, it seems only fitting that Ania took an abstract approach with the design. Now nbutterf herself loves this piece, and much like Carroll plays with words, she also plays with her tattoo. If you keep reading, you’ll see exactly what I mean.
So to have a little fun with the design she asked her friend Julia to paint over the tattoo with watercolors, giving it an entirely different look. This is one of those few times where I am just blown away by the inspiration and execution of a piece. Kudos to Ania for the design, and thanks to nbutterf for sharing it with us.

Everyone here at BME wants to extend a big congratulations to Sean and Rianne Philips on the birth of their new baby girl Caliana Louise Philips. Caliana was born last night at 1:21am weighing 6lbs 13oz. Mom and baby are doing just fine and Sean promises to get us some pictures as soon as he can. For now, here’s a picture of Sean and Rianne when their son Sylas was born.
