A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.
  • The Wrong Side of History

I’ve been hearing this phrase more and more lately when it comes to same-sex marriage and it really does apply.  When you think back to those who were opposed to freeing the slaves, or those who wanted to keep racial segregation, they ended up being on the wrong side of history.  They were fighting against a movement to treat everyone equally, and as time went on more and more people realized that this wasn’t a fight that they could win, nor was it a fight that should be fought.  Hopefully within the next few years the same will apply when it comes to same-sex marriage around the world, much as it already has in Canada and Europe.  So what does this all have to do with ModBlog?  Check out this tattoo by Jackie Rabbit.  The reason should be pretty clear.

  • Strange Birds

From the talented hands of Jackie Rabbit comes this piece called “Strange Birds”.  It’s got a fallen angel vibe to it, especially with the mask looking so much like a plague doctor’s mask.  And you can never go wrong with a plague doctor.

Update:  This piece by Jackie is based off a piece of work by Samantha Mash entitled “Fix Me or Conflict Me”.  You can check out the original here.

Jackie works at Star City Tattoo in Roanoke, VA

  • Aerial Eye-candy

Today’s been all about the eye-candy, so why stop now.  This “flying shrimp” suspension was facilitated by The Sinner Team.  It looks like they used webbing on the two hooks going into her back to help support her for the transition you see in the second photo.

  • Oh my..

    Doesn’t he look quite dashing.

  • Accessorizing for the Season

When you go to make your holiday corsets this year, remember to always co-ordinate your outfits and hair styles with the ribbon colours.  The last thing you want is to show up at an office party with clashing ribbons.

  • Aussie Eye Candy

Jake‘s no stranger to being ModBlogged, but I think this may be the first time he’s been featured as a BMEBoy.  Sure he’s had a lot of scarification work done, and his nipples removed, but that beard/stache combo is what makes this photo so grand.  With the holidays coming up, now would be a good time to add him to your wishlists.  I mean, who wouldn’t want him keeping you warm on a cold winter’s night.

  • She’s a sucker for pulls

Forearm pulls are much more fun with a cute girl attached.  Especially if she has teal hair, a third-eye microdermal, and has a sucker in her mouth.

And of course I can’t leave out the Decembeard in the middle.

  • Forever Black-eyed

Eyeball tattooing.  We’ve talked about it before when it first started to come about a few years back.  Shannon did a great piece on it, as he documented the procedure that Howie did on him.  It’s been well over 4 years since that article and while it is still extremely rare, we do occasionally get submissions.  I just want to note that while it has been successful for some people, this is one of the riskiest procedures and can easily lead to blindness.  Do not under any circumstance even attempt this without proper research and preparation, and even then you can still lose vision, and possibly the eye itself.

That all said, here’s a client of xRonix showing off his blackened sclera.

xRonix is currently working at Extreme Needle in London.

Again, don’t even think of attempting this without extensive research.  If anything is off by the smallest of measurements it is possible to go blind.

  • A double dose of BMEBoys

Ya, that’s right.  I’ve got not one, but TWO BMEBoys for you today.  And I have it on good authority that at least one of them will be at the BME NYE 2012 party.  So not only do you get to ogle them here, but you can also do it in person in a couple of weeks.

First up is the Decembearded Richard ‘Effin’ Ivey who wishes all the ladies a Merry Christmas. (His words)

And next is Evan, aka IAM:Velo.  We saw him in last week’s Friday Follow-up showing off his 6-week old scar that Richard cut.  And here he is now at the 6 month mark.

  • More than a little pin prick

It’s one thing to put 150 needles in a single line, it’s something else to work up an entire elaborate design that covers the upper portion of both legs.

The legs belong to sugarNspice, and the piercings were put in by Dennis “SpankyDoom” Eymer from Art and Soul Tattoo in Portage, MI
