So I recently asked what people wanted to see on ModBlog, and the above title is what I was told. Let’s get started on that with this tattoo by JR at HellCat Tattoo in West Palm Beach, FL, done on Turps211. You’ll also notice that there are some ads on ModBlog right now. Sorry to have to add them, but it’s become a financial reality — and big thanks to our sponsor (check them out and sign up for a free membership), and a big old “get the hell out of the conservative dark ages” to Google and all the other online ad agencies that refuse to deal with BME.

I don’t think it’s a “most piercings” record, but if all of these rings — there are six hundred and six 18ga half-inch piercings here — are gold, it may well be the highest dollar value of body piercings installed in under eight hours. The piercings were done by Rhian from Level 5 in Sarasota, Florida.

This wild piercing was done by Mark at Only Precision Piercing in Burlington Washington, USA . I didn’t really know what to call it, hopefully he joins IAM soon and lets us know his pet name for it and how it healed (because assuming it’s not fresh in this photo, it seems to be doing alright).

Seriously, I am so enamored with Iceland and Icelandic culture in general, and that statement is even more true after writing this entry (it’s a little country — I can draw statistical interpretations from a single person, right?).

Here’s a couple of tattoos of piercings, something that I get more often that you’d think. You may remember my old lecture on why corset piercings might not be the greatest idea… With that in mind I got a big kick out of Juli’s tattoo of a corset piercing. Also vaguely in the same theme is Adam’s heart by Paul at Fat Kats in Ocala, Florida.

When Phil and I first saw this tattoo, it was the day after the Canadian election, so we were all excited that someone had gotten a “voter” tattoo. Truth of the matter, the symbol in this case actually stands for “USDA approved grade A meat” (done by The Hole Experience in Baton Rouge, LA).
The high-quality meat mark on the ass is actually not that uncommon — here’s another variation, on Kinderfeld69 who I believe is very proud of his meat. The tattoo is by Chip Beam at Artifex in Vestal, NY.
In another entry I should tell you the story of the first guy I knew with a similar piece (a “100% beef” brand)… He’s now in prison for being a child rapist — and I am so sure he deeply regrets his decision!

I won’t out the piercer that did this, but I really have to say that I feel that deep nipple piercings like this on women are reckless and irresponsible. If you see something like this in a portfolio, avoid that studio — see: BME encyclopedia entry on mastitis — it is incredibly easy for a female breast infection to travel inward and do permanent damage very quickly. Don’t take this warning lightly.

Here’s a facial scarification video of DTM working on Ken Karnage, both of Amazing Grace Tattoo in Geneva, NY. Getting your face cut, at least for me, is a really strange experience. It feels different (I think) than work on other parts of the body, both physically (for me it was “scratchier” feeling, sharp but coarse, and I could also really feel and hear the blade cutting through hair follicles) and mentally as well it’s different because you know that even if the cutting is “for you”, it’s going to affect, perhaps radically, the way the outside world sees you.
