Alright, that’s a horrible owl headline, I can admit that. It’s a good thing that Gabor‘s latest owl is the exact opposite of horrible. I like how his minimalist style is still evident even though it isn’t exactly a minimalist image. You can see what I mean by checking out his BME tattoo portfolio gallery.

You don’t bleed enough for me..

Now according to Google, this phrase is from a song by Oomph! entitled “Sex hat keine Macht” (Sex has no power), which I’m assuming is a German band. Putting the music reference aside, it is an interesting quote to use scarification as a medium, as anyone who has been scarred knows, bleeding is a part of the process.
As you’ve probably guessed by the watermark, this scar was done by Anders from Flesh Impressions in Broadbeach, Qld, Australia. You can see more of Anders’ work in his scarification portfolio.

Abstract Dots
Written by
It’s pretty clear that when it comes to dotwork tattoos, Sonja is one of the best working artists of the day. However she isn’t defined by just her dots. Check out this abstract piece that she did recently. It still incorporates dotwork, as you can see in the shoulder, but the back is full of seemingly random patterns.

Halloween is coming!

I love this time of year, the leaves are changing, the temperature is dropping, and all around you people are finding ways to turn themselves into some kind of ghoul. Well today’s BMEGhoul is zombieprincess. There was no credit listed for any of her piercings, however the photo credit goes to DBNE Photography.
Don’t forget to take a photo of yourself dressed up this year and send it in! And we’re still looking for modified pumpkins!

Return of the Thunderbird
Written by
Back in June we caught a glimpse of Borneoscorpion2008′s impressive thunderbird genital tattoo. Well it turns out that the thunderbird is just one part of a larger suit. I had to do a little blurring, so to see the unblurred version just click through.

Putting your best foot forward

This is one of the more challenging suspensions I’ve seen done. Chubby Vegan is calling it an antichrist suspension, however for some reason I remember it being called something else when Havve did it at the Dallas Suscon. In any case, it’s still a tricky one to pull off, and even trickier to transition into a 2 point version using only 1 leg. The suspension itself was facilitated by Brazil’s Diablos Mutantes Suspension Team.

Hooray for Gisella Pumpkinhead
Written by
So while I was carving my pumpkin the other night, I was thinking to myself, it’s been a long time since we’ve seen a BME/Modification related pumpkin. So I’m throwing the gauntlet down, I want to see the best of the best when it comes to pumpkin carving. There are lots of talented people out there, so lets see what you can do to make a modified pumpkin (bonus points if you include a BME logo). Once you’ve carved your pumpkin, simply upload it to the BME Culture gallery. Myself and Jen (she doesn’t know this yet) will go over all the entries and the winner(s) will be featured next week. So get out there and start carving! Oh, and here’s a little inspiration in the form of Miss Gisella_Rose.

The Wonderful Adventures of Nils
Written by
This is one of those references where you’ll either know it right away or you’ll have no clue at all. Myself, I had no clue, but the wonders of the internet filled me in. Earlier this month at the International Brussels Tattoo Convention, Michael Kozlenko from Kipod Tattoo in Tel Aviv created this image for a client. It’s of Nils, the main character of The Wonderful Adventures of Nils, a Swedish children’s book which was adapted into an anime series back in the 80s.

Eye of the Tiger

I’m beginning to think that Wang from Tattoo Temple isn’t actually a tattoo artist, but some form of wizard that can capture the image of a tiger and put it into the skin of a human. I can’t think of any way other than magic that he’s able to create something this spectacular.

Zombies are one thing. But nowhere in any of my outbreak plans have I taken into account flying zombies.
That flying zombie is JakeMindsnared, doing a guerrilla superman suspension at a zombie walk.
