I’m starting a new series for ModBlog called “Evolution” (so in the future you’ll be able to see all of them by clicking the “evolution” tag). Here are the first eight — more will follow in future entries. The point — as if it’s not obvious — is to show people with prominent facial modifications transitioning from their unmodified form to where they are now, with a picture or two inbetween. Click to zoom them by the way. Without further ado, I bring you…

Really interesting, been following lots of peoples progression on mod blog for years. I often wonder how these people have evolved – or people who were high-profile a few year ago and now seemed to have disappeared. For example people like Toph (remember him?!) – does anyone know where his journey went? I think ‘follow-up’ posts years after the original would be very interesting!

I met Sarah a little over a year ago when her Husband was doing one of my tattoos. She is one of the most amazing, sweetest, honest people you could ever meet. Glad to call her Friend 🙂

I’m sure I’m not the only one who enjoyed following various people on bmezine and follow their evolutions. See them popping up in various mod galleries, so yeh of course I think this is a great idea.
A few suggestions;
– graphical timeline under photos (zero year being start unmodded)
– mini story, some mods are really interesting and for sure are not preplanned, getting a mod to balance out a previous mod is interesting and for some very normal approach. Also as in the case Simon (last one) the pictures just beg more questions, like under or over the photo Id love mini quotes or snippets. Eg photo 1 “I had nasty facial scars I needed to cover caused by accident” (I’m guessing/imagining) photo 2 “I really disliked the untattoed space on my face” photo 3 “only at this point I start to feel complete” etc…
– this one may be hard; a sort of completeness marker. In the case of some like Lucky Diamond the end result is kinda measurable. Or it could be broken down into mini goals, goal 50 mm lip disc at 60% etc.
– a link to their Ian of personal profile if will
– a mini time line comment system (eg a la sound cloud.com) I can imagine at 30% width people commenting “I think they should have stopped modding at this point” “wow I didn’t see that coming” etc
– mod counter, as the timeline progresses the stats (think top trump cards)
–number of piercings
–biggest gauge
–%tattoo coverage
–size of scars/brands
(on a side note I would defo play mod trumps online or physical card game, so many modded celebs, someone like Cat or Enigma would be a top trump card for sure, also I can only guess mainstreamers might like this game from a curiosity aspect and so that can only be a good thing, spread awareness etc.)
– in tandem with timeline I’d like to know basic facts about the person featured age and perhaps other key fluctuating variables show along timeline. Eg weight/age/marital status hahaha (single/not single) lol…
– some steps in the modded procedure are fascinating, such as when Enigma decided to apply scars over his facial tattoos to make the lines pop of and raised, (though I believe he didn’t do it) or when LDR started going over black ink with White, or people getting stretched holes surgically sown up. I think these things should be noted on the timeline, because people viewing need to know they have the option to do this, it’s funny how some people really modified don’t really research modding and thus don’t know what procedures are available.
Perhaps the photos should just do the talking, but I think they are quite open to speculations, misinterpretation and in many cases leave more questions than answers, although that might just be me.
To conclude I can see something like this might be a nice tool for Iam people, I think a lot of us (modded people) do stuff like this anyway
Just my 2 cents
Ps – do Pauly unstoppable or that guy covered in blue deep sea designs (full body frame) next! (actually full body lucky diamond would be awesome to see)
Pps I wonder if facial recognition software would be fucked in a lot of these people’s cases haha

Apologies, autocorrect always shafts me…
“- a link to their Ian of personal profile if will” = “a link to their Iam personal profile or other personal page if modded person agrees obviously”
Great work as always dude!

Thank you Shannon for this new serie. It’s interesting to see how people get involved in Bodmods. But with the dates on the pictures we could see how each people modifications takes place in the bodmods historical evolution

Vinni, those are all superb ideas, but not really what I’m going for with this series, which is really meant as more of a “quick view”. But it might be great to expand on many of the people featured with dedicated entries that follow your proposition.
