A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Wings of an Angel

I love it when Jackie sends in a story to go along with her tattoos.  Here’s the story behind this pair of angel wings.

First off… this is this girl’s FIRST tattoo! Secondly…we did it all in a single 6 hrs session. she was a BEAST! But aside from the bad-assery there is a great story. She had some awesome inspiration to keep her going. She told me that when she was very little she spent most of her time being taken care of by her grandmother. They were very close as you can imagine. She was a very religious woman and always told bed time stories from the bible but was able to make them seem amazing and magical for her little grand daughter. She always called her her “little angel” even after she grew up. Nikki was lucky enough to be at her grandmothers side when she passed away a few months ago. She was very old and had made her peace with the world. Before she passed she told her grand daughter that it was ok and that she was going home to be with the angels. With all this talk of angels and the grief of her loss it seemed pretty clear to Nikki what to do 🙂

Dude, a single six-hour session? That’s an insane effort. I wish my tattooer could do that in six hours!

it was a labor of love on both ends 🙂 This was the first set of full back wings Ive done. always hated the way most artists do them. ive never seen realistic ones done on this scale and I was SUPER stoked to do them.

So gorgeous. I’ve always wanted wings, but I don’t know if I’ll ever have the balls for such a big piece. If I do, I think I’ll visit Jackie Rabbit!

lol… Yes Monkey it was. We like to get shit done. A lot of clients come to me for large pieces because I can get them done quickly and therefore at a good price without sacrificing quality. Helps when you dont dick around like some artists do ;p

I’ve got probably, 15 hours worth of work and if you combined it all it wouldn’t be half the coverage… I’m thinking though, at 6ft tall maybe my torso would just be much much bigger than maybe a slighter girl’s? My fiancee has a beautiful beautiful, full colour floral piece, probably the size of just one wing, it’s been like 9 hours so far, she has been less of a champ, but if it was done in 6 hours then that’s phenomenal.

Absolutely awesome job! I can’t even comment on the cost, it’s insane, especially for OKC, but what I really like is the detail and shading in the wings.
