I know that tattooing the sclera doesn’t change the color of your vision, but when you see images like this it’s natural to think that she may be seeing the world through a purple haze. Just so we’re clear, eyeball tattooing is extremely dangerous and can easily lead to blindness with the smallest error.
As you’ve probably guessed by the watermark, this eyeball tattoo was done by Howie down at First Blood in Sydney, Australia.

I’ve been wanting to get my scleras tattooed black for a long time (…and then get black contacts…), but I don’t know of anyone reputable with experience that does it in the US. Does anyone have suggestions? (BTW: figured that I should probably wait until I had Lasik so I don’t need to wear corrective lenses.)
As an aside, I have my head/neck tattooed, and I have 15 visible piercings (of 32; 11 of the visible ones are non-ear piercings), visible scarification, and I work in skilled trades/manufacturing. In many cases, if you don’t interact with the public in your job, and you don’t work for social/religious conservatives, then appearance won’t matter nearly as much as your qualifications.
Pierced Rivet Head: The only artist that I know in the US that does them is http://www.lunacobra.net
He did mine and Naepier (the above picture) and has quite a few examples on his website. I suggest contacting him via his site for prices, etc.

That makes sense, I figured she was probably in the mod industry or something.
I can’t wait till mods are accepted everywhere. I AM seeing more & more clerks, waiters, and people in everyday jobs with piercings & tats though, and that’s very heartening 😀

I work at a university and have visible mods (piercings, tattoo, brands) which have never been a problem.

I LOVE the bright colors of their eyes. It seems all the eye tattooing that I have seen pictures of is black or red and in my opinion makes people seem very scary. As someone whos tattoos are big, bright, and colorful works that are kinda quirky it makes me happy to see this. I like how surprised most people are that my tattoos are lighthearted and I’m “such a nice girl”. I think it takes peoples concert of what modified people are like (normally they think we’re all very scary) and kinda flips that for them. These do just that for me. They look wonderful.

Purple – that’s awesome, I wasn’t saying that no modified person could ever work somewhere else, in fact I specifically said “work somewhere that doesn’t care what you look like ” My cat’s Vet in Ohio had full sleeves, there is a member of the COBM with stretched ears that is a lawyer in NYC, my best friend has full sleeves and is a burlesque dancer and a tattoo artist, and I used to be an office manager for American Express Financial Advisors Inc. with my bright red hair, an eyebrow ring, and a lip ring (the specific office I worked in just didn’t care). Sadly those employers who are open minded and see skills instead of modifications are few, that was more my point, although it does seem to be getting better as the economy is recovering. I get a lot of dental hygienists, and other medical professionals coming in to get pierced lately.

@Crabapple: Seriously? I really didn’t expect to have to read this on bmezine of all places. Perhaps this place is not really suited to your closed minded attitude, either that or your just a hypercritical idiot.
Have you ever thought about when your older, how you will feel about looking like a fuck head on the internet? Seriously though?
Eat a dick, have a nice day.

I would not, personally, get this. But I think it looks absolutely amazing (: this girl is brave! I have 11 piercings and 7 tattoos. I will eventually be covered, from neck to feet, in tattoos and I wish that society would be more accepting to piercings, tattoos and body modifications. It does not change a persons personality. What happened to “not judging a book by its cover”? Everyone should just be accepting (:

I know a number of people who have had it done out of the industry, my friend is a car painter with a teal one, another customer has both black and is a builder.
Perhaps the rest of the world isn’t as closed minded when it comes to heavy mods as you Rainbowdash.

Lol I just have to take a moment and congratulate CRABAPPLE for their hilarious stupidity. Pure entertainment value right there my friend.
“Are you going to be a tattooist forever?”
Ummm… Well considering the year that I’ve been going to first blood and how rapidly nae’s work has developed, I’m gonna go with.. YES? I sure hope she will be anyway. I don’t think ANY of the resident artists/piercers at first blood would even consider an alternative career .__.
On a different note, I LOVE FIRSTBLOOD. could not possibly imagine being stabbed and having bling added to my body anywhere else <3

>5 years ago you were generally not allowed simple nostril piercings in any work force in Australia, 10 years ago you weren’t allowed any visible tattoos or be a male with ear lobe piercings.
That’s bollocks. I came here 10 years ago (to backwards Brisbane of all places) and was bowled over by the amount of piercings and tattoos. 5 years ago you could regularly find lip piercings in ANZ and Commonwealth banking (over the counter), and waiters/waitresses with full sleeves and stretched ears were common.

>>my priorities are just different than yours, when one day I get stuck because my name and photo don’t match my i.d. and my facial features and I can’t get a job and have to go to a welfare office and explain why it’s my gender and disabilities and not the shrapnel on my face… or maybe when my wife and I want to have a child and can’t I will not want the adoption agency to deny us based on me looking like a minion of satan… or maybe it’s got a lot to do with the time spent with medical/psych professionals who I am trying to convince I’M JUST A NORMAL GUY to and that normal guys have a couple less holes than I do, I basically need to be deemed not insane to get hormones and surgeries and I don’t like risking more than 3 or 4 facial piercings that I can take out before appointments because, let’s face it, people with piercings get discriminated, absolutely, this is not me having a closed mind, this is me wondering about the rest of my life.

@TJM: Sorry, I should have clarified. I meant in the ‘normal’ every day work place. These days I can go into a coffee shop (not a hip cafe either) and I see people with facial piercings and even occasionally mods. 10 years ago I got fired for having an eyebrow piercing at a check-out at a department store.
@Rainbowdash: That sounds pretty harsh, I’m really sorry to read that. I guess we all just strive to be who we want to be on the outside as well as the inside – that’s the reason why I get the work that I do and also the reason why I do the work that I do.
