It’s with great sadness that I have to inform you of the passing of a member of our community. Last night while cycling to a friend’s house, IAM: Aloewishes (Fredrick Kobrick) was struck and killed in a senseless hit and run. All of us here at BME are saddened by the loss of Aloewishes and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones.

That is fucking bullshit on so many levels! How many people have to die from drunk driving accidents before the laws are changed?? This guy had no insurance and a suspended licence! WTF!!!!! Such a sad, terrible loss.

wow, I’m not a BME member but i had submitted a story to this blog. I came here to check and see if anything had been posted and I found this. I knew fredrick. not well. But we was an old and close friend of my husbands. It was so odd to find out the news here. unexpected . RIP fredrick

I had the pleasure of randomly meeting him in Chicago at a coffee shop I frequented a few months ago. We met for coffee the next day and talked for hours. I did not know him too well, but the stories he had to share and his personal point of view was very interesting. He seemed like a kind fellow. It was shocking to see this.

The lack of respect for both basic road safety (not driving drunk) and for alternative forms of transportation in this country is overwhelming. As someone who has lost several people to similar things, this story really struck home.
