A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Backpiece in Progress

This pretty back piece — the shaded boxes being what really sets it apart from one of a zillion generic pieces — is being done by Chris Dingwell at Sanctuary Tattoo in Portland, Maine.

I absolutely LOVE this. a) it’s well executed, and b) it’s different. Not my style personally – I tend to go for more ‘literal’ images and try to stick to color, but I recognize and admire a good tattoo when I see one.

Wow! I really like that a lot! I am glad to see more of Chris’ work on here too! He’s a fantastic artist and if he’s given a bit of latitude in the design, can make mind-blowing work!

I like this a lot. As others have pointed out, the design itself isn’t horribly unusual but it’s very different from the majority of abstract art tattoos, and looks pretty on the wearer.
