A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Team Christ

Yeah, I really hope that Natalie gets kicked off BB9 tonight. But anyway…

The script in this tattoo by Brian at Atomic Age in Mechanicsburgh, PA, reads “This I Know”, like the song, explains the wearer…

I was on a plane leaving the French West Indies after a month-long cross cultural college course. We were headed for Philadelphia, but there was an electrical short in the cockpit when the plane was somewhere over the Bermuda Triangle. The smell of melting plastic and smoke filled the cabin and we thought we were going down for a watery death in the Atlantic. I was terrified with most of the other passengers. One man even wrote up his will a few seats ahead of me.

The college group I was with from Messiah College started singing “Jesus loves me, this i know, for the Bible tells me so.” Hearing that song reaffirmed my faith and brought me a solace I never thought I could feel in a time like that. I told myself that if I lived through the experience, I was going to get that tattooed. That song states such a foundational understanding of my Christianity and because the whole experience tested my faith, I realize how vital my relationship is with my Creator. God brought me through that, and now I have a permanent reminder that I know I am loved.

I’ve heard of plenty of people promising God they’d be good Christians if they survived whatever, but this might be the first time I’ve heard of someone promising God they’d get tattooed if they survived!

religion, at it’s best, is a tool for self improvement.
religion, at it’s worst, is an assemblage of the self satisfied.

david, explain to me why religion is rediculous? is it because we follow a leader who’s example we desire to emulate?

what else is school. what else is life?

men of vision and women with good ideas deserve acclaim, and a man who was willing to be tortured and killed for his convictions that also, by the way, just happen to be a really great way to live anyones life, why the hell shouldn’t people follow him?

sheep is thrown around like an insult, but it shouldn’t be.
sheep are among the stupidest of Gods animals, but they have the good sense to follow a good leader.

why then should people mock the sheep for choosing such a good shepherd?

@11 You’re right on David. However, rather than making me laugh, it makes me sad and angry to see people get suckered by religion. Religion is the most wicked and destructive force in human society and I will celebrate the day when it is completely abolished (not that that’s likely to happen any time soon, unfortunately; but it’s a goal worth working for!)

There is no “Atomic Age” in Mechanicsburg, but there is an “Atom Age”. A couple of my friends worked there, but their artists seem to be leaving in droves.

the tattoo on itself is beautiful and the sory behind it to for that person
but christianity (and here it comes) is not a tool for self improvement its a thought the tool was and stil is for some parts to keep humanity in pace
heather jesus was a punk like any other bastard on the world who doesnt like his religion so he does some parlor tricks gets killed by bitching about his god/father (hehe pun)
and 100 years later some people write about it and tadaa the bible is born. later people never got the choice like now in what religion they wanted to be it was christianity or dead actualy they are stil wars in the name of “god” but anyway. people now are forced to christianity by being baptised as a child and so no wonder they are the bigges religion.
I’m getting to deep, it doesnt matter what the faith is of this person the deeper meaning of the tattoo is wonderfull making a promise of faith and holding to it and in the end he can say that tattoo is a sign of the day i got saved by the “lord” in a plane over a piece of ocean imbedded with mystery

No one is attacking the atheists here, so why the attacks on the religious? Can’t we all just realize that this world is diverse and celebrate the diversity. I mean, if it wasn’t for accepting diversity, body modification would never have entered the mainstream. I am a Christian, but I respect and defend any atheist’s right to have their beliefs. I find comfort in my religion and I remain a productive member of society, so why should my beliefs affect anyone else? It’s all about live and let live.
