A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

The Once-Ler’s House

I think the world would be a much better place if every kid had The Lorax, The Sneetches, and maybe Horton Hears a Who (and not this new bastardized movie version) in their libraries… I’ve read it to my daughter many, many times, so I was very happy to see this Dr. Seuss tattoo by Will Thompson at Outer Limits in Costa Mesa, California.

“But now,” says the Once-ler,
“Now that you’re here,
the word of the Lorax seems perfectly clear.
UNLESS someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better.
It’s not.

“SO…
Catch!” calls the Once-ler.
He lets something fall.
“It’s a Truffula Seed.
It’s the last one of all!
You’re in charge of the last of the Truffula Seeds.
And Truffula Trees are what everyone needs.
Plant a new Truffula. Treat it with care.
Give it clean water. And feed it fresh air.
Grow a forest. Protect it from axes that hack.
The the Lorax
and all of his friends
may come back.”

Where The Wild Things Are is also a story that every child needs to hear. Once again, not the movie they are making that will probably suck.

Aww I love this! The Lorax is such a great book. I think this would look cooler with color, though.

I, too have a “The Lorax” tattoo! And it’s on my lower leg. That’s so strange — mine is not the Onceler’s house, a Truffula forest with swomee-swans, humming-fish, and brown bar-ba-loots. When I move back to the US this summer and get it finished, I will have to post pictures.

If you like the Lorax, you should read Wump World by Bill Peet. It’s another wonderful children’s book in a similar vein. They’re two of my favorites!

I have a Lorax tattoo, too, and so does my tattoo artist. I have the pile of rocks with the word “unless”. I’m glad to see there are other people out there who love this book.

Not trying to spam, but I should probably look to Dr. Seuss for a new video of mine.

The Lorax is my very favorite book from my childhood and this is a beautiful tattoo. I’ve been planning a Lorax themed tattoo for a while now and I’m actually glad to see there are others also 🙂 This is a book that everyone needs to read, young or old.
