A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Aztec Backpiece

I really like Doran‘s backpiece, done by Rob Coutts at Bobby Five here in Toronto. Hopefully I have not mislabeled it!

Update: Of course I did mislabel it; as a couple people have pointed out the design is Mochica, from Perú, and predates the Aztec and Mayan cultures.

I love work that is mostly black with sharp injections of color, especially when it is red. This is fantastic!

Thanks for the compliments and I do forgive the mislabeling. *smile*

As for the species of fish, I and other archaeologists don’t seem too sure as Moche art is full of mythical sea creatures and monsters. The man though is often called Ai Aipec or the Decapitator. Cheeful, eh?
