A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

When you lose your big labret…

Did you know that you can make a 7/16″ labret out of a Slim Jim?

#5. Mechanically separated chicken? D: This concerns me. It probably means something completely non-disgusting, but it sounds… disconcerting, as you say.

I said twiggy stick, so I guess a slim jim is like that… Twiggy sticks are salami stick things. You can get mild and hot, I think. I wouldn’t want to be sticking anything with “hot” on the label in any of my piercings though!

I just realised how ironic it is I’m D:-ing at mechanically separated chicken, when I eat parts of a cow no one would touch if their lives depended on it.

In the UK we have Pepperami, which I think is the same kind of thing and is also pretty mingin’… I always felt the same way about them as those Cheese String things – they’re just pretending to be food!

After an animal is slaughtered and butchered, there are small bits of meat attached to the carcass. To maximize the amount of meat “harvested” per animal, processors will “power wash” the carcass of the meat. The resulting slurry is forced through a sieve and the processor is left with odd meat (and cartilage, connective tissue, etc) bits. This is mechanically separated meat.

It’s disgusting and MUCH, MUCH different than eating offal meats (if that’s what Dimruthien is referring to).

As an aside, there are much stricter regulations on how MSM can be used in the human food supply because of BSE (in both the US and UK). Previously, MSM would contain bits of spinal cord and brain. Appetizing.

I didn’t know what a slim jim is either. In Hungary we have something called “snack-friend” (I tried to translate the name best as I could) which is basically the same thing. I wouldn’t eat it anyway because 1) Its gross 2) Its dead animal.

Ok just so we are all clear, No, slim Jims do not make good jewelry. I wore it just for the picture then took it back out and put in my teflon lebret piece. I am a piercing artist and know well the dangers of wearing something like that for an extended time. it was a gag. 2. Yeah, I do have pretty eyes.

Even meat eaters should avoid the shit that goes into mechanically recovered meat (eyelids, rectum, tongues, ligaments etc etc).

Only in the US would they package it up and sell it to the public.
