Personally, and this is only my opinion, I don’t really like Kat Von D. I mean, she’s a great artist, and has a shit ton of a talent, but the way she puts her self out there on her TV shows and stuff, just makes her seem like she’s a 3 year old.
She’s a filthy tattoo artist. Period.

That’s not a pixie tattoo she’s working on, but a Pixie tattoo — Pixie Acia — she’s the shop helper on “L.A. Ink.” Kat got a tattoo of her on a recent episode as well.

nothing against Kat or anybody else… but I can turn on TLC and watch this if i want to, I go to modblog to see something out of the ordinary.
I don’t mind Kat or LA Ink at all, they’re quite entertaining- but isn’t it the least bit creepy that dude is getting a tattoo of Pixie without knowing her or anything? Well he might, I have no idea, but it just seems like a random guy.
I think Kat is very pretty and has talent, but shes a queen sized bitch. Hygiene? Whats that?! I find the show entertaining but I think she’s a spoiled brat who has her head up her ass. One day she’s going to come crashing down to Earth with an almighty thud.
It’s interesting to read all these comments from people who hate Kat, but you have to understand, too- this is a Blog about the Modification world. It’s not, “Bizarre Mod Blog”- it’s a place where everything mod-related is welcome. Haven’t we gone over this enough as ModBlog Readers?
She sounds like a deplorable professional and it’s sad she’s a public face for the Industry.. but I think it’s still important to see a bit of everything here.

Holy crap don’t ask me why I never noticed it but yeah, she doesn’t cover her tattoo gun, that’s horrible.
Especially since these reality shows (inked, la ink, miami, etc) are the main place the average person “learns” about tattoos in the mainstream since the artists are now celebrities.
So when Mr/Mrs. Consumer go into their local tattoo shop and sees the hygeine practices are the same as what they see on TV they won’t question it. Not dumbing down the average person but… it happens too often.
I always wonder about her facial tattoos because being on TV and just looking at her damn face it’s obvious she wears a ton of makeup/foundation. So does she re-draw over her tattoos? Foundations won’t always cover them completely but they won’t look as sharp as Kat’s do.
#20 and #28 said everything well. this is ridiculous. as for her being “famous,” i’ve never even really heard of her until now (except that her work was mediocre). i don’t have cable. i’ve just been reminded why that is.
#22, i see what you’re saying.. seeing posts about bad artists, (healed) cut (small) lobes and “australian snakebites” is pretty boring. i’d rather just look at my page over and over again(even though i’m tired of seeing it) because the work i have done is more exciting then that. a lot of the photo quality is crap, too.

i think it’s fairly obvious from pictures like this that she simply wipes off foundation around her tattoos so that they dont get completely covered by her layers of makeup.

I’m still new to a lot of this shit here. I use the bag and the sleeve, been drawing for 20+yrs, and just recently started tatting as a profession, something i’ve wanted to do for more than ten yrs. She may not be what everyone expects, but she is who she is and has made something of herself because of it. All haters should consider this and stop worrying about others and just do you.
