A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Rx Tattoo

From Joy:

I was recently approached by Dr. Racanelli, a surgeon in NYC. He inquired whether I would be interested in tattooing the areola and nipple areas of his patients that have gone through breast reconstruction after mastectomies. During some surgeries, areolae and nipples are removed. Although reconstructions can create a “breast” using the surrounding tissue and implants, they cannot recreate the color of the areolae and nipple.

I told Dr. Raccanelli that I would love to help and he could give out my information to any patient who was interested. I had my first corrective/reconstruction tattoo procedure yesterday. If any one is interested, please don’t hesitate to contact me. Below are before and after pictures.

Before - Tattooed Nipple Reconstruction

After - Tattooed Nipple Reconstruction

After - Tattooed Nipple Reconstruction

While this is Joy’s first areola and nipple reconstructive tattoo, I am positive it will not be her last!

This is really generous and good work. I am sure the people getting them feel better about their bodies, which is awesome. Yay Joy!

    Joy,

I am a survivor also. I’ve chosen a decorative tat for the areola, but haven’t done it yet. Your photos inspired me to find a good artist and go for it!

    Congratulations and thank you.

My mom has breast cancer and just recently had a mastectomie. The plan is that once she is done going through the slow process of getting her implants, she is goin to get something just like this. Does it always end up looking so well?

Congrats on the awesome work. Its amazing how a plastic surgeon like Dr. Racanelli would think outside the box and work with a true artist such as yourself. I am a nurse and I have seen so many plastic surgeons try to create the tattoos themselves. The results ALWAYS SUCK! Keep up the good work. I am sure this was so easy for you to do, even mundane, but imagine how it impacted the patient? YOU ROCK!

I’m very impressed with this. The symmetry and color match are great. At first glance you don’t even really notice it’s not natural. I hope this tattoo helps restore some confidence and pride.

I want to get a 3 1/2 in. Cross implanted in my chest next to my heart; then I want it tattooed as if it were burned on my skin. I would also like an image of Jesus also tattooed, as if burnt into skin. I’m looking for colors like: dark reds, dark pinks, some whites. Is this possible?if so where?
