My friend Johnny Murphy made a commitment to himself that his sleeve was going to be totally based on his own distinctive, somewhat Ojibway-reminiscent artwork (of which you can see some in the background) — I wish more people would do that, whether they’re amateur artists, professional artists, or not artists at all… These were applied for him at Starr Asylum in B-Town, Iowa.

I love love LOVE this. And I think that getting things you’ve drawn yourself tattooed on you is a lovely idea. Unfortunately, I can’t draw for shit, and I’d be pretty dissatisfied having something crappy on me for eternity.

I am super impressed with the brilliant colors. And I totally agree that more people should stop and think about personalizing tattoos more, instead of just grabbing flash off the wall.
