Pretend Im Human writes of her tattoo by Shon Koperweis (“at his house with a gun, in Oakland”), “[it’s] a metaphor for humans and the planet — the planet is the diamond, and we are the monsters”. Fair enough.

Not sure how I’d feel after getting that.
Somewhere between “WTF was I thinking” and “You got any more, mine’s wearing off”

if that was actually done by a good artist it would be a sweet piece of art.

I understand that the concept may be of humans and their scourge on the planet; however, what i see here is that this tattoo was applied substandardly and being publicized and, I suppose, openly “praised” on modblog, is quite parallel to the message on her arm. Promotion of bad tattoos takes from all the progress of the tattoo community, as disrespect of our planet takes away from all.

#7- Shannon didn’t praise the artist. He also posts things like this- https://www.bme.com/news/2006/10/31/the-grossest-picture-ill-ever-post/
It doesn’t mean he’s condoning it, sometimes things are just noteworthy. This one is fun to look at because it’s uber-trippy, don’t read too deep into it.

well, she does says its unfinished, so things can only go up from here right?

I hope she goes to a reputable artist to have it finished. Right now it can still be saved and turned into a nice piece of art by someone who knows what they’re doing. If she lets the “guy in his house with a gun” do more to it, it’s going to get worse.

For the record: I am fully aware of the lack of quality in this tattoo, its a direct transfer from a sketch I did in my personal journal and thought for awhile about putting it on my own body before deciding to do it and what mattered to me was telling people about what the tattoo meant. The fact that it is not finished has a lot to do with that. The person who did it is a friend of five years, it is his first tattoo and the picture I took of it is horrible, not doing it ANY justice. I have a couple friends who tattoo professionally and are excited to work on it and finish it. Also, the friend who did the tattoo was clean and careful, making sure to provide a safe situation….so even though his line work sucks, he is responsible enough to take caution and care.
