A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Figure 8 tattoo in context

Sorry for the delays. I’m having a lot of trouble keeping a full schedule (but really, if you want to listen to me whine though, go here instead), but I will do my best from now on to do pre-written entries so my lags hopefully get hidden by the nature of the queue.

I’m going to start working on that right now but until then here’s an in context shot of Minneapolis‘s Elliott Smith Figure 8 tattoo that got such a positive response when the close-up shot was posted.

i think he should of gotten it from the beginning, with the small, strait lines. but its still epic.

for some reason i always assumed a figure 8 to be sort of a mobius strip shape, but i guess i was wrong?

The album title isn’t really called Figure 8 because of the wall on the cover – he has a b-side for that album called Figure 8, it’s a cover of the Schoolhouse Rock song of the same title. (Note it’s not on the album itself, it’s just a b-side.) And, still beautiful. This is hands down one of my favorite tattoos.

THAT is cool. and I agree with #1. The thin straight lines across the chest would have been cool… which is why there’s always time for more ink. 😀
