Let me make up for linking DerKaiser wrong last time by posting this great photo of a 22ga neck play piercing he recently did in Germany. That reminds me, I’ve slowly started speaking German to Nefarious (my daughter) because right now she’s a total sponge for language and I only have to say something once for her to pick it up. Four languages seems like a good number.
This time I’ll get his name right!

- Held by Hooks, and Each Otherby JonathonFacilitators and practitioners — the very people who bring so many suspensions to life — often pour their energy into others, quietly setting aside their own opportunities. Brenton and Brittany are one such example. Traveling all the way from Houston, TX, they came to the… Read more: Held by Hooks, and Each Other
- When Tongue Piercings Meet Medicineby Coin-coin le CanapinIn 2010, a German study was published involving subjects with tongue piercings. The tongue piercing was used as part of a device designed to relieve obstructive sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is a disorder affecting many individuals. Severely affected individuals may suffer from various long-term… Read more: When Tongue Piercings Meet Medicine
- Suspended, Not Silencedby JonathonThere’s something undeniably powerful about watching someone working through the stages of suspension. We all build up ideas about ourselves—what we’re allowed to feel, how much we’re allowed to express, when it’s okay to break. For some, suspension is not about pushing physical limits its… Read more: Suspended, Not Silenced
- A Nightbird’s Passageby JonathonSome stories take their time, unfolding over decades, through life’s long detours and diversions. But dreams never rest until they’re fully realized. Even after 15 years, Robb knew there was still a suspension experience waiting for him. Something left unfinished, something essential. At the Ontario… Read more: A Nightbird’s Passage
- What Lifts the Body, Shifts the Soulby JonathonFirst suspensions are rarely just about the body—they’re a meeting point between the physical and the deeply personal. Stepping into this experience isn’t simply about trying something new, but about stepping outside yourself to a version you had always sensed was waiting. I’ve had a… Read more: What Lifts the Body, Shifts the Soul
- Skin and Strings: The Art of Human Puppetryby JonathonOne of the most powerful things about being at a convention like OSC is the sheer concentration of experience, creativity, and capability in one place. When you’re surrounded by people who not only understand the technical complexities of suspension but are excited by the challenge… Read more: Skin and Strings: The Art of Human Puppetry

lilish – No, she spoke English until she we moved to Mexico where she picked up Spanish. Jon and Rachel speak pretty good Spanish, and I speak a little. She’s also taking French (which I speak the basics of at least) at school and we’re considering immersion, and I speak German so I’ve taught her some of the basics (counting, talking about who you are, where you live, how old you are, etc.). Kids love language, and I think it’s generally good for you. I’ve also been teaching her to lucid dream which I think if you learn at her age is *really* good for you as well.

Derkaiser is absolutely beautiful. He has sort of a feminine/ambiguous look to him, which I think is absolutely appealing.

Good job starting Nefarious off early! I started French at age 7 and German when I was 8, and I am leaps and bounds ahead of older colleagues who have studied for just as long but started later. In contrast, I started Japanese when I was 16 and Chinese when I was 17… it’s not quite so easy to just pick it up anymore! Make sure that she gets a chance to keep using the languages she picks up. I’ve lost all of my French because I haven’t used it for years.
