A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Braille Tattoos

Te amo, ya vas lyublyu, ja cie kocham, eg elskar deg, kimi o ai shiteru, ani ohev at, ich liebe dich, je t’aime, ana behibak, ek is lief vir jou. You can say it so many ways, why not take on the curse of the paired tattoo?

By Jim Couey at Ink Fiend in San Jose, CA (the text is love and “one-four-three” I think).

My Braille is rusty – I need to break out my copy of “Braille for the Sighted” again – but those tattoos, unfortunately, look largely illegible. They both need to have more space between the cells, and the larger one needs some more space between the lines. Why is there a sudden rush on Braille tattoos? Is it just the latest code, now that kanji is becoming passé? I’m confused.

I’ve got a crush on a blind boy… are braille tattoos just dots, or are they raised at all?
