A black-and-white photo of a person mid-air in a Superman-style body suspension pose, supported by multiple hooks in their back and legs, smiling joyfully toward the camera. They are suspended horizontally in a large indoor space with high ceilings and visible rigging. A group of onlookers—some seated, some standing—watch with expressions of admiration, amusement, and support. The atmosphere is lively and communal, capturing a moment of shared experience and transformation.

Oh, how far we have come…

…when the Lizardman is cracking jokes in teen magazines.

I wonder if they paid him, or just stole the picture like many magazines do. Anyway, Julie was given this by a girl she babysits because “you have tattoos so you might know him.” Ah, good, we’re now a misunderstood size-underestimated pseudo-ethnic group. Heh.

So they don’t like it when the model has tattoos and piercings, yet they love Pink? Pink has a bunch of tattoos and piercings. Damn fools.

I’m pretty sure the mom is talking about Pink in her statement.

Anyway, there’s something incredibly clunky about this sentence: “I supposed she was stupid on the days when she got the tattoos and piercings.”

So, stupid is now a state of being which comes and goes, like being hungry or irritated? At least try to sound intelligent when criticizing another’s choices…

i think its just plain insulting to anyone who has tattoos or piercings.

Not to mention incredibly fucking irritating to see how ridiculously closed-minded some people still are. GROW UP and worst yet is she is obviously sensoring what her own daughter is reading and therefore is probably going tobe one of those moms who will never let her get pierced or will force her to get it done by the gun because its cheaper or something. Fucking ignorant bitch is what she is!

i do ceramic and hardwood floors for a living. my friend and i worked for a certain builder for months straight, so we got to know his secretary (she wrote our checks, heh). well, now we find ourselves in this woman’s home doing work for her. her daughter was telling me the other day that her mom was apprehensive about the idea of her daughter getting a monroe piercing, but it was right at the same time she met us. we’re two pierced, dreadlocked, tattooed guys who come to work scruffy every day. her daughter told me that meeting us and knowing us as good people swayed her opinion on her daughter’s piercing. i was glad to hear our personalities made a difference in first appearances, and i just thought it was somewhat relevant here.

I think it’s really unhelpful to be super nasty about that mother’s comment. There is so much more wrong with the world than a few anti-mod comments made by misguided over-protective mothers who probably really love their kids.

It makes me sad to see supposedly “open-minded” people saying things like:

“Fucking ignorant bitch is what she is!”

    and

“i hope she falls in a well.”

Just because her views about piercing/tattoos differ from yours. Those comments above are a lot more disturbing to me than anything that mother said.

For all you know, the mother could be really frustrated that her 13 year old daughter constantly asks for mods that she is too young to legally get. Maybe she doesn’t want her daughter to become another under-age teenager with an infected navel piercing and a bad tribal butterfly tattoo.

And as for being “one of those moms who will never let her get pierced” – so what? When her daughter is old enough, she will obviously be able decide whether she wants to get pierced/tattooed/whatever with or without her mother’s approval.

In the meantime, why not try to make the world a nicer place?

Aus, the thing is, she was willing to cancel her subscription to a mag for them having a modded person on the cover. That doesn’t sound like frustrated to me, that sounds like hard-core bigotted. And people that extreme in their dislike of other people having mods tend to attempt to indoctinate their kids that mods and modded people are evil. That’s probably why the people above were so angry and used the language and statements they did.

It wasn’t just what the mother said, it was her stated action that was more disturbing. She doesn’t even want to look at a modded individual and doesn’t think that someone with tattoos or piercings can be a good role model. Not someone I’d say is just looking out for their daughter.

As well, the problem with a complete ban on your child being modded in any form while they live under your roof is that many will leave the day they turn eighteen even if they aren’t ready to–messing up their life somewhat. And then the fact that 18 is the prime age for rebellion means that they’ll likely rebel by getting mods they don’t really want from people they shouldn’t be getting them from.

Think it from all sides–I can see where you’re coming from, and yeah, not everyone with parents like that turn out like I described but it’s still a possibility, and not one should happen–and wouldn’t if people would lighten up. So yeah, we don’t know her, so can’t completely judge her, but a bit of extrapolation from her comments reveals what type of person she most likely is. And it’s the type the world would be better off without. Still, I learned my lesson on wishing people death a long time ago. So I echo the, “Fucking ignorant bitch is what she is!â€? but not the, “[I] hope she falls in a well.â€?

“There is so much more wrong with the world than a few anti-mod comments made by misguided over-protective mothers who probably really love their kids.”

What does she have to protect her daughter from? Mods? Because those sure as hell aren’t as dangerous as riding in a car, playing sports, and all the everyday things she probably let’s her daughter do.

“For all you know, the mother could be really frustrated that her 13 year old daughter constantly asks for mods that she is too young to legally get.”

Yet she’s bitching out pink, who is most definitely over the legal age for piercings and tattoos, for adorning her body the way she wants.

“When her daughter is old enough, she will obviously be able decide whether she wants to get pierced/tattooed/whatever with or without her mother’s approval.”
