I think I’ve posted drumstick tattoos up the forearms in the past, and I’m not adding these so you can see the theme… I’m posting it because they sent a couple pictures of how the tattoo twists with the arm and I thought it was kind of neat! By the Brazilian guys from Max Tattoo in Bologna, Italy.

- Tethered in Timeby JonathonSome suspensions are planned down to the last detail—others arise suddenly, yet carry just as much meaning. For Kyle and Aly, what began as a spontaneous idea became a deeply symbolic expression of shared history and emotional connection. The number of hooks told a story… Read more: Tethered in Time
- Held by Hooks, and Each Otherby JonathonFacilitators and practitioners—the very people who bring so many suspensions to life—often pour their energy into others, quietly setting aside their own opportunities. Brenton and Brittany are one such example. Traveling all the way from Houston, TX, they came to the Ontario Suspension Convention not… Read more: Held by Hooks, and Each Other
- When Tongue Piercings Meet Medicineby Coin-coin le CanapinIn 2010, a German study was published involving subjects with tongue piercings. The tongue piercing was used as part of a device designed to relieve obstructive sleep apnea. Obstructive sleep apnea is a disorder affecting many individuals. Severely affected individuals may suffer from various long-term… Read more: When Tongue Piercings Meet Medicine
- Suspended, Not Silencedby JonathonThere’s something undeniably powerful about watching someone working through the stages of suspension. We all build up ideas about ourselves—what we’re allowed to feel, how much we’re allowed to express, when it’s okay to break. For some, suspension is not about pushing physical limits its… Read more: Suspended, Not Silenced
- A Nightbird’s Passageby JonathonSome stories take their time, unfolding over decades, through life’s long detours and diversions. But dreams never rest until they’re fully realized. Even after 15 years, Robb knew there was still a suspension experience waiting for him. Something left unfinished, something essential. At the Ontario… Read more: A Nightbird’s Passage
- What Lifts the Body, Shifts the Soulby JonathonFirst suspensions are rarely just about the body—they’re a meeting point between the physical and the deeply personal. Those are some of the nicer stick tattoos I can recall seeing. I love how simple the image is (please, don’t get it filled it!).
And is it weird that I see an integration sign when the tattoo is twisted?

I’m a working tattooist here in Vegas since ’99. I’m assuming (projecting?) that we ALL working in the business know we must ALWAYS check the appearance of the design thru the full ROM (range of motion) of whatever area you’re working and ensuring that it won’t distort the image. You just cant assume certain things. Don’t be cheap! use a [spirit master] stencil or make your own w/ Hectograph pencil*
and you can both see how it will look in every possible way before commiting it to skin.
With a linear piece like this it’s hard to avoid. But it still looks good and the customer seems happy…and that’s all that matters!!!
Any ‘tooist worth his salt should already be well familiar with the particulars.
I have a better idea…how about some nice transverse distal forearm drumstick subdermals?!?!?!
*(SHARPEN WITH A KNIFE ONLY-the lead totally comes apart in a standard sharpener)
