First Tattoo

So I had been toying with the idea of getting a tattoo for a while. I had religiously began watching shows such as Miami Ink, and while I admit they played a big part in inspiring me/egging me on, I definitely was definitely set on getting a tattoo even before that. For my first tattoo, i wanted to keep it simple. I wanted to get something that was meaningful to me, but at the same time, something small and uncomplicated to keep my first tat simple. I have been deeply involved with music all my life, and it is definitely ... read more

Egyptian sleeve progress

So I decided to continue on my black and gray Egyptian themed sleeve. My new addition would be an outline type portrait of King Tut. I was really excited to get this tattoo as I already had two nice sized pieces on my arm. This would just add to the overall coverage on my arm and I was pumped as you might be able to imagine. Alright, let's start this story. It was the morning of my appointment and I was as excited as I could be. Having many a tattoo, I have grown accustomed to the process and flow ... read more

Butterfly Neck Tattoo.. Beautiful!

I had been debating for a while whether or not to get a tattoo on the back of my neck, but I'm really glad I did. I eventually decided on a pretty butterfly :) Nothing too fancy or over the top as I figured it's going to be in a place that will be on show most of the time. I took a while to think about how high up I was going to have it as the profession im in, it could be frowned upon. I decided that I could always cover the tattoo with my hair if need ... read more

To Tattoo or Not to Tattoo - That is the Question!

So I decided to get a tattoo towards the end of my senior year of high school... My previous best friend and I (from 9th and 10th grade) were going to get matching hearts done but never did (still to this day!). A little while later I decided to look up tattoos pertaining to music (music notes, symbols, etc.) and tried (forever, it seemed!) to find one that I liked that wasn't too far out there. I found the treble clef star tattoo on google in the images section and decided it was going to be the tattoo for me. ... read more

A Prayer for Life

For several years I'd wanted a tattoo to add to my small but growing display of modifications on my body. The problem had been finding something that would have as much meaning fifty years from now as it did now. I'd hit on something years ago, during some studies of my family, and fiercly into the Rom side, a prayer that was in Slov-Romani. Of course it got shelved with the other ideas, until; four piercing, two new scars and a divorce later, I hit back upon it. I'd decided that I really didn't want to get image tattoos to ... read more

The journey of getting my first tattoo

When I was seventeen, I was looking forward to turning eighteen for only one reason: getting tattoos. While others my age were trying to sneak into bars with fake ID's, I was trying to find a way to get a tattoo as soon as possible. Growing up in Tonawanda, NY (a suburb of Buffalo), I always heard stories of people going up to Canada to get tattooed before they were eighteen. Even though I knew my mother would hate it, I made it my goal to get a tattoo in the great white north. Not having a license myself, I ... read more

Rib cage tattoo= P.A.I.N.

So I've been wanting a rib cage tattoo for the longest time. I have done alot of research and came to the conclusion that 99.9% of people say that it hurts like hell. So I was prepared to be a little uncomfortable. (little did I know) I have several tattoos, a big one on my lower back, on my butt, on my foot, and on my hip. I have my nipple pierced (which hurt terribly), home done nose, tounge, rook, and my upper and lower naval. So I've had some painful experiences. After doing some design research I found a ... read more

Pansy!

The idea of my latest tattoos has evolved quite a bit over the last year. I started out wanting some half sleeves but wasn't entirely sure what to get to compliment my personality and body. See, I have very thin and long arms. No matter how much weight I gain or how much I workout, they stay really thin, so I don't have much room to work with on them. My design would have to be small and delicate. I finally settled on the idea of floral sleeves. Yeah they are common but they are very pretty and classic. But ... read more

My first tattoo, better the second time around.

To me my body is a valuable canvas make like the value canvas was given years ago when it was expensive and rare. The only difference is my skin can't recovered and redone. Whatever I chose must stay with me the rest of my life. With this in mind I always wanted to decorate my body with things that had deep meaning for me. It took me years before I figured out in my head what I wanted. I wanted to incorporate stone, arches, flowers and use it to embrace myself. I have no skill at drawing and I really ... read more

Getting my wings...

While I was growing up, things weren't always easy at home - I experienced an unreal amount of death and violence for someone my age. Part of my trying to cope was to cut myself. I did this for a lot of years and have a lot of quite ugly scars as a result. But I wouldn't want to be without my scars, because they, like my tattoos, have come to represent a big part of who I am. It was only after I met my boyfriend that I realised how much what I was doing hurt the people I ... read more
