My nape vs my Nerves

Well, Week 5 of my nape being rather happy with me is almost up! I decided about 5 weeks ago to get my first surface piercing, and after much research, and several phone calls to my piercer, I took the plunge and had him poke a hole in the back of my neck. It wasn't quite what I had expected, and not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I have 10 other piercings, and I've enjoyed every single one, so I figured getting my nape done was something that would be even more interesting than the rest. ... read more

My anchor/microdermal navel piercing.

Since the first time I saw someone with their lower navel pierced, I knew I had to get one. I had my navel pierced February 2006, and have been waiting for a time to finally get the lower part pierced. I researched on BME for quite some time, learning about what methods and jewelry should be used in such an area, reading people's stories, and looking at pictures. I had it figured out from all my research what I was going to get done. I wanted a surface piercing, with a surface bar, and done with the punch and taper ... read more

Me and My Corset!

Tomorrow, I will have had my corset piercing for exactly one week! This has been a piercing in the planning for months, it started with a picture I saw on the Internet, I then mentioned it to Scott whilst I was getting my vertical sternum pierced. He said how he had also wanted to do a corset piercing but never had, this of course made me determine to get one. I did loads of research on the Internet first, looking for pictures but couldn't find that many, I probably found about a dozen or so. I found lots of horror ... read more

I miss my collar bone bars

As the title suggests this is a sad story. A tale of loss. But anyone out there who has had a surface piercing will know it is not an unexpected loss. About 3 years ago I felt the usual craving for a piercing. It had been a while. However I was bored with the usual piercing I had been getting. I wanted something a bit different. One of my friends had recently had her wrist pierced on the top and I loved the way you could just see these little balls resting on her wrist. Now one of my favourite ... read more

Goodbye nape piercing....

Well, I'd been craving a new piercing for quite some time when I finally came across something original and unique. A nape piercing. It really appealed to me, and was something no one else I knew had. I decided to go ahead and make a booking at a local piercer as soon as possible. After the week had passed, I turned up to the studio and prepared myself for the worst. I had no idea what type of pain to expect because I'd heard a lot of mixed reviews. After waiting for a little while, I got called into the ... read more

Wrist Surface Anchor

Before reading this, you might like to check out the BME article on surface anchors here: http://www.bmezine.com/news/pubring/20061106.html At the least look at the picture of the shape of the jewelry and my description of the insertion will make much more sense. The Long Wait I have toyed with the idea of surface anchors (though I initially had no term for it) long before I had ever heard of anyone actually trying it. The possibility entered my mind while working on a Habitat for Humanity house. I was holding a nail gun and thinking that should an accident occur resulting in ... read more

Personal Right of Passage- Nape Piercing

The summer in between high school and college was a very eventful time of my life. I decided to move out of the house and for the first time in my life I supported myself on my own. The feeling was very liberating and I gained a lot of trust in myself and found strength that I didn't know I had. So when the summer came winding down I wanted something to remember it by. Up until my nape, piercings have been kept to my ear with both lobes double pierced and a small rook on my right ear that ... read more

My Slick Six

Well, I kind of have a fixation for piercings, and I have so many, but I never wanted them all over my face. I started with my collarbones back a while ago, and they hurt, but I wanted something new, something not everyone had, and I wanted surface. The things hurt quite a bit, but the adrenaline and the way they are after that are way worth it. My friend Brennan suggested that I get a whole project done, and after researching the parts of the body that can be pierced and how they look and stuff like that right ... read more

My new but scary nape piercing

I had been talking about getting a nape piercing. I wanted to get it done because it's rare for an African American female to have this done. Especially in Kansas City. The plan was to get the piercing, and then get a glow in the dark tattoo of my son's eyes over it. Once the piercing was done healing I was going to get a glow in the dark ring for the piercing. Well after months and months of talking about getting it done I finally went to do it. On March 24th my cousin and I went to Freaks ... read more

"Is that a bar in your arm?"

Like just about all of my other piercings, I'd been interested in surface piercings, especially wrist/forearm piercing for months and both the aesthetics and probably the "rarity" [well, at least the rarity of properly done surface piercings] appealed to me the most. I think part of wanting to get the piercing done also was to have a bit more control of myself because I knew I'd have something to keep my mind occupied for the next 3 months with cleaning and looking after the thing. I'll say this now that I don't get pierced just to take my mind off ... read more
