Wrist Surface Anchor

Before reading this, you might like to check out the BME article on surface anchors here: http://www.bmezine.com/news/pubring/20061106.html At the least look at the picture of the shape of the jewelry and my description of the insertion will make much more sense. The Long Wait I have toyed with the idea of surface anchors (though I initially had no term for it) long before I had ever heard of anyone actually trying it. The possibility entered my mind while working on a Habitat for Humanity house. I was holding a nail gun and thinking that should an accident occur resulting in ... read more

Nape Piercing – Delving Deeper into Modification

I don't know about you, but for myself I find it exceedingly more helpful to read submissions that have been written a semi-long period of time after the actual procedure had taken place. In this way, I am sometimes confronted with such phenomena as healing problems, revelations, tips or tricks etc. As much as I prefer reading experiences that are NOT written a few days after the fact, I feel it is important for me to write this now, while the memory is still fresh. I promise to update in a year or so when I can reflect intelligently upon ... read more

Nape

First off, let me say that I am no stranger to piercings. Aside from my ears, I have had four sternum piercings, a nose ring, tongue ring, one madison, four navel rings, two hip piercings, and now my nape. I currently only have 11 still in. Hot Rod Body Piercing has pierced about 10 of them. They are the only place I'll go to now. Having recently had my hips pierced (with tygon - highly recommend it!), I thought I'd pretty much exhausted all piercable options that would allow me to still get a job after looming graduation. I don't ... read more

My Wrist-Piercing Experience

I've never been a fan of surface piercings. While as a kid I loved the idea of having multiple piercings, my mum hated facial piercings and I don't hate my mum at all, so I kept away and focussed on my ears and the less visible ones. Surface piercings never hugely appealed though, and indeed I found them pretty pointless and ugly. All that changed seven weeks ago when I found myself pondering what had happened to my childhood love of piercings – I used to get new ear piercings nearly every month, though neglect meant I removed a great ... read more

My Nape

I have always loved piercings but when I came to university I was opened up to a whole new world! The one which I am most proud of being my nape. I have read many useful and interesting stories about other peoples' experiences, some of which I agree with, some I disagree with, but then, everyone's' experiences are different! The first surface piercing I was exposed to was a nape and it was love at first sight. I spent a couple of days wondering if I should go through with it and in the end decided I should, after all, ... read more

My nape vs my Nerves

Well, Week 5 of my nape being rather happy with me is almost up! I decided about 5 weeks ago to get my first surface piercing, and after much research, and several phone calls to my piercer, I took the plunge and had him poke a hole in the back of my neck. It wasn't quite what I had expected, and not nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I have 10 other piercings, and I've enjoyed every single one, so I figured getting my nape done was something that would be even more interesting than the rest. ... read more

close to my heart

Every time I contemplate getting a new piercing or tattoo, I always compulsively give blood. The waiting time between new additions and being eligible to give again always seems so long and giving blood is very important to me. Until the regulations are changed and it is no longer a year's wait, I literally have to plan to give blood a few days before I go in for a new mod. This time was no different. I just turned 18 and had a major desire to get pierced. Something about being able to sign for myself and choose what I ... read more

A New Found Addiction

The first time that I had ever gotten a piercing was when I was five years old, then I went on a piercing hiatus for about 13 years. When I was going through my angst ridden teenage years I always complained to my mom about getting a lip piercing, and now that I look back on it I am quite happy that she always said no. I have always liked my clavicles for some weird reason, but I never knew that you could get them pierced until recently. One day a few months back a friend of mine told me ... read more

Adventures of a Nape Piercing

When I first considered a nape piercing, one of my friends (now a piercer's apprentice) had the guts to actually go out and get it done. It looked fantastic and I knew that I had to have it. The only thing stopping me was a slightly scarring nipple-piercing experience. The pain of that had made me a little needle shy. I even talked to my piercer repeatedly about the type of pain I was in for with the nape piercing and what kind of a pain scale we were talking about. Never even having considered pain as a factor for ... read more

The beautiful bar in my chest that was not meant to be.

I am sure there comes a point in the modded person's life where they start to look at the more unusual piercings and even start to look at piercings which may not 'live forever' but will look amazingly beautiful for a short while and decide to opt for those too. In my life with modifications I decided I too would look into these types of piercing and perhaps get one myself. I looked through the array of surface piercing pictures on BMEZINE and having seen sternum piercing in my friends too I set my heart on this. I got in ... read more
