I had to put metal in my face before I liked it

I spent a very long time hating the way that I looked. I was your typical teen girl with ridiculously low self esteem. I led a very self destructive lifestyle and treated my body like a peace of trash. That all changed with my first piercing. I moved out of my parents home when I was 18 with my boyfriend, Tim, now my husband. I had always wanted my lip pierced and mentioned it Tim to see what he thought. "I want you to do whatever makes you happy, " was the response I got. I played around with the ... read more

Button your lip

It's been a very, very long time since I've had a new piercing – in fact, recently I've taken a lot of them out and downsized my half-inch earlobes to 5mm, because I was kind of bored with the whole piercing thing. (I know, shoot me now!) My first body modification love has always been ink, with piercings as a secondary decorative attraction rather than the Big Deal for me. But, despite this, there are still some piercings that I need to have to feel complete – the ones I've kept (my tragi, rooks, tongue, hood and vertical labret) are ... read more

Botched Vertical-Labret Repierce

When I was 16 I decided to get my vertical labret pierced after much research on BME. The piercer who did it also previously pierced my: septum, monroe, and lip, as well as my boyfriend's: center lip, snakebites, and septum. He used (special-order) internally threaded jewelery and made me feel at ease especially as he explained EVERYTHING step-by-step. The piercing wasn't too bad, he pierced slowly with a 16-gauge needle (as he guided the needle) from bottom to top and there was a slight burn as the needle exited through my lip. The jewelery transfer was easy and I was ... read more

Vertical Labret Issues

So for as long as I have remembered I've always been attracted to surface piercings. My first initial goal was to get my eyebrow pierced, which I did, at the age of 16. Eyebrow piercings are one of the highest rejecting facial piercings and that is exactly what happened with mine. After trying to pierce it again at the age of 17 and it still rejecting I decided to move on with a different body mod. After turning 18 this past March I was hell bent on getting my vertical labret done. A vertical labret is a piercing that is ... read more

The Amazingly Easy Scrumper Self-Piercing

So not too long ago, maybe almost a month, I was sitting in my basement with my boyfriend and thought "Hey! I need another piercing!" I had problems thinking of what I should do, because I already have Angel Bites, Snake Bites, Horizontal Eyebrow, Bellybutton, Tongue, and many in my ears. After I thought for awhile, I figured I would pierce my Scrumper. I initially wanted to do my tongue webbing, but the angle my tongue is pierced, I couldn't. And then, I figured I would do my dimples, but I didn't have the right jewellery, and I didn't want ... read more

Snakebite piercing.

Early Tuesday morning around 3am, I was talking to my friend, and I decided to go get my snakebites done in the morning, I had wanted them done for ages, but just never did, so I thought, I might as well go have them over with. So I waited up and didn't bother to go to sleep. I started to get nervous already, even though I had my labret pierced already which I did myself, which didn't hurt at all, it didn't even swell up which I was surprised about, but went against doing it myself again, as I bled ... read more

Positive Labret Experience ♥

First the boring background. Ever since my obsession started with Disturbed I had wanted a labret, also my father has one. My mother has always been REALLY against piercings, but said I could get one on March Break of 2008 (turned 15 in December). The labret completes my appearance. It really adds to my personality, so I suggest going for it if it's one of the piercings you stare lovingly at, you will NOT regret it. THE EXPERIENCE. When March Break came my mother was driving me and my sister to Hardcore Piercings & Tattoos to get our birthday piercing ... read more

Once a lip ring, now snakebites.

I know it says six months, but it's actually closer to 9. There's no option for that, but since it's closer to six months than a year (only by a few days!) I figured that's what I'd go with. For three months, I'd had a lip ring on the right side. For a bit over a month and a half, I'd been absently thinking that hey, snakebites are cool. For about three weeks, I'd been thinking that damn, snakebites are awesome. I should seriously think about getting the other side of my lip pierced. For about a week and a ... read more

My first piercing

I don't have anything pierced, not even my ears. Ever since November of 2007, I've had his strange obbsession with snakebites. I was convinced that they'd look good on anyone. But my parents wern't. I tried talking them into snakebites for the longest time, but they wern't giving in. I asked for them as a Christmas present. No luck. It didn't take long for my obbsession to die down a bit, and, obviously, my parents were pretty happy about then. But then it started up again in January, and I wanted them again. And more than before. This time I ... read more

My DIY centre labret piercing!

First of all, I'd like to say that this happened six days ago, not a week ago. But close enough. Hehe. Second of all, I'd like to stress that while I performed the procedure myself, I had done several months' worth of research, and ordered in all the correct equipment. I do not condone people jabbing random safety pins through their face in a serious attempt at self-piercing, even though I did something similar with this. I have been known to act stupidly. Right, now, on to the experience. I'd decided that I wanted a new piercing about three weeks ... read more
