weee!!! my nape piercing!!

When I first saw a picture of a nape piercing about 3 years ago, I knew had

to have it. I was only 15 at the time so I kinda knew that I wouldn't be able to get it anytime soon. So I was in Oklahoma City(approximately 2 hours away at the time) and was driving by a well-known piercing shop there. I asked my cousin to stop by there so he did. We went inside and I asked about the piercing and basically, the guy discouraged me to do it so I was like "blah" and we left.

Several years went by, and I still wanted the piercing plus some spinals. I finally turned 18 and I knew I had to get it done. So I called up the same piercing shop(now only 15 min away since I moved) and the guy said he'd do it and all, but basically he was a jerk about it. I was asking him a few questions and it was like he was trying to make me feel like a dumbass so I decided that there was no way I'd get it done there. I asked around and a few people I knew suggested Obscurities(www.obscurities.com) in Dallas, which wasn't too far away. I called the shop and talked to Chris Johnson. He was very nice about everything and answered all of my questions. I originally wanted surface bars, but he told me about how he's had better luck with tygon and gave me that option. I had to think about it for a while and I told him I'd call him back in a day or two. The next day, I called him and told him that I wanted it done and made an appointment for the day after. I woke up really early the next morning and drove to Dallas. It was a 3 hour drive, but it went by quickly because I was so excited. When I got there, Chris was on his lunch break, so I had to wait a few minutes for him to get back. He then came back and we talked about the piercing and he took me back and started examining my back and neck for placement and then told me that my skin wouldn't be fit for the spinals :( I was sad, but I still wanted my nape piercing. I was filling out the paperwork when I realized that I had forgotten to eat...oops... so I walked down the street to grab a bite to eat, but I wasn't very hungry so I only nibbled on my food. After I was done, I went back there. I was never nervous or anything about the piercing until then...it hit me. I was really scared and nervous as I was sitting there and he was drawing all of the lines for placement etc. The studio was very sterile and Chris was very clean about everything. He had to clean my neck again because I touched it when I was showing him how low I wanted the piercing(oops!). Anyways...as I was laying there as he was preparing everything....I was extremely scared. He told me to take a deep breath and to breath out slowly etc....and then the needle went through. I didn't really feel anything, but just the thought of knowing a needle was going through my neck frightened me so I was breathing heavily. He then put the balls on and I was done. I looked in the mirror and I loved it!! He then told me about the aftercare, gave me a handout, sea salt, and Provon. So off I went to drive another 3 hours home.

So far, I

haven't had much trouble with this piercing. I've had it for a little over a month now. There wasn't much bleeding when it was initially pierced, just a few drops, and there was no blood until I went to Houston about a week ago. My skin broke out and my nape piercing bled a little bit. I think it was the air, since there's lots of smog down there. The only problems that I've had so far are my friends forgetting about it and putting their arms around my neck or grabbing the back of my neck and the occasional snagging onto my shirts. I've gotten several dumb comments about it(I live in Oklahoma..blah) and everyone who sits across from me when we're eating somewhere in public(restraunts, mall) says that everyone stares at it or does a double-take. My friends think it's really neat, and my parents haven't seen it yet. I have no idea how I'm going to keep it hidden from them once it starts getting warm. Oh well. This is a wonderful piercing and I love it!! I'd recommend Chris Johnson at Obscurities to anyone. He does a great job and is a friendly guy who will answer all of your questions. So far I've gotten a 2nd piercing by him, and probably several more to come. Hope I didn't bore you too much. If you have any questions, feel free to email me!! =)
