Tongue Story

My name is Tom I am 19 years old and live in California. I had wanted to get my tongue pierced for about 2 months, the only other piercings I have are my ears 3 in the left ear and 2 in the right and I did those my self. Well the big day arrived June 6th 1998, I went to the piercing parlor The Gauntlet in San Francisco (http://www.gauntlet.com), I went with my cousin, aunt and my mother came to watch.

When we arrived we walked to the top of the stairs and I told the women what I was there for she gave me some paperwork to fill out, asking if I were Diabetic, Prone to fainting, and so on. Then out came my piercer James, he had plugs in his ears, pierced cheeks, tongue and I believe his labret was pierced also. He had me sit on a bench/bed (like doctors use) he explained what I will feel and what I will need to do, he told me to take a two deep breaths and let them out slowly as he held my tongue in the forceps, as I let out the second breath he pierced me I didn't feel anything but a small prick as the needle exited the bottom of my tongue. He then inserted the barbell a 3/4" 14g Bar and screwed on the bottom ball.

He then explained the after care about using mouth wash after I ate anything or drank anything besides water, he said if I smoked try not to and if I do rinse after every time I do and to also stay away from alcohol. I was also told I should use Glyoxide or Hydrogen Peroxide twice a day, they also gave me an aftercare sheet explaing all things that need to be done, I might experince and what can go wrong and what to do if something should happpen. He also said I should suck on ice all the time for a couple days to keep the swelling down and if the swelling is bothering me to take Ibuprofren, and that i should come back in about 3 weeks for my downsizing.

Well I am now out of the shop and on my way home, I am taking public transportation and when I get to the MUNI Metro station (Subway style trains in San Francisco) the attendent would not let me take my ice with me, so I said some nasty things to him, threw my ice away and hopped on my train.

When I got home everyone ate dinner they had some of my faviorate food burgers from Wendy's, me I got to eat pudding. it was already about 11pm so I cleaned my mouth and went to bed.

Day 2

I woke up in the morning and had a little swelling nothing major, I cleaned my mouth(I cleaned it when I woke and before I went to bed) and had some Ice and Water and at about 1pm I decided to go to the mall with my cousin. While there he was hungry so we went to McDonalds and I decied to try a burger so I bought a McDouble No Tomatos (my faviorate from McDonalds) and some ice water. It was some what akward eating with metal balls in my mouth but I got the hang of it. I then went to see the new Jim Carrey movie "The Truman Show" I sat through the movie with my trustee cup of ice. After the movie I walked home ate, Cleaned up and went to bed.

Day 3

When I wake up I have a little bit of swelling but not as bad as the day before today I ate regular foods and was on a fasttrack to recovery. The rest of this day is quickly explained I drove to Los Angles and back to San Francisco the next morning. Since I had almost no ice duringh that trip that next morning my tongue was swollen more than any other day before. I cleaned up and got a tall glass of ice in about 30min the swelling was down and I was able to talk normal again. Then I left and came back to SF.

Day 4

This morning I had almost no swelling, and went to Marine World (A theme park near by) I was the only perosn there with a bottle of Listerene. After this day of fun I came home and crashed.

Day 5

No Swelling at all, and Feeling good...

Well that is my story if you want to ask any questions you may email me at [email protected]

Thank You Tom
