My awesome labret.

I've always loved piercings, ever since I was about 5 years old. It was only until I was fourteen, after trifling through pages of piercing pictures, that I actually wanted to get one. I was very unsure of what to get. It was a toss up between vertical labret, lip on the left, labret or septum, all of them being favorites in my book. I was very hesitant to ask for one, because for one: My dad absolutely hates modification, and two: if my mum said no (I don't deal with 'no' very well). At first, I wanted a vertical labret, mainly because it is a very uncommon piercing where I'm from. Having asked Mum if I could get a vertical labret when we went for our trip to the city, she thought about it long and hard, and I instantly knew that it would be a no. I was disappointed, but I didn't give up hope. I then asked her if I could get a labret. She was fine with that, but said she would think about it overnight.

Mum said yes. I was ecstatic. I knew she would, she's very easy like that. I was on the train to the city with my mum, my sister, my sister's boyfriend, and my mum's partner. I was very eager to get my new addition. My mum told my sister, and she was instantly excited, (being a lover of body modifications herself, she has a few). We finally got off the train, and went straight to a nearby market. After that, we were walking down the street, when we came across 'Off Ya Tree', a shop that stocked alternative clothing, accessories, etc. It also had a tiny piercing store out the back, called 'Punktured'. Mum and I went up to the counter where we were greeted by a woman with quite a few modifications. My mum asked the woman if I could get my labret done. She said yes, and handed over the paperwork for my mum and I to sign.

She asked if I had had anything to eat or drink in the last two hours. Having nothing to eat that morning, She told me to go around the corner to the nearby 7/11 store. Me and my sister walked around the corner so I could get at least a drink. Drinking my drink, We then went back to the store. The woman asked for us to wait for a little bit so the piercer could all his stuff ready. About 5 minutes later, a man came out, also with a few modifications, and asked for us to come in.

I stepped into a small, clean, blue-tiled room. He told me to hop up on a large seat-like chair. He handed me a cup, which was filled with blue liquid, which I presume was Listerine (?), and told me to swish it around in my mouth and spit it out again. While doing that, he ran through after-care instructions (I nearly went loco when he told me that I couldn't have caffeine for two weeks). Having done that, He put disinfectant on my lower lip. After that, he asked to see my lower lip from the inside. He looked at the inside of my lower lip, and I closed my mouth.

Getting slightly nervous, he marked a dot with a blue texta. It was perfect, right where I wanted it. After that, he told me to lay own on the seat like chair, and to close my eyes. He then instructs me to breathe in and out slowly. About 5 seconds later, BOOM! I feel a familiar stinging sensation, and I new the needle was through my lip. I thought the needle was still in there, but little did I know he already put the jewellery in! I was extremely surprised. I looked in the mirror, and I was awestruck. It suited me perfect! Having thanked the man, I stepped out and back to my mum, who was waiting outside the store. She complimented on how well it suited me, and we started walking into town. I was very excited to flaunt my new piercing. After that we went to Kentucky Fried Chicken, and I found it difficult to eat because every time I went to bite down on something, the flat disc at the back would get caught on my lower teeth and bite, which hurt A LOT. My sister told me it wo uld be tricky to eat with at first, but I would soon get used to it. When returning to school, I would get asked a lot of questions. You know, the usual 'did it hurt?' type ones. I was overly happy, and I can't wait to get my next few planned piercings. I would recommend this piercing for anyone who wants a simple, painless piercing, that looks simply divine.
