- Tethered in Timeby JonathonSome suspensions are planned down to the last detail—others arise suddenly, yet carry just as much meaning. - Held by Hooks, and Each Otherby JonathonFacilitators and practitioners—the very people who bring so many suspensions to life—often pour their energy into others, quietly setting aside their own opportunities. Yeah, and I might let my boyfriend beat me up so he can jackoff to my black eye.
“We know that the majority of Modblog contributors are low in intelligence but the reactions to this and previous similar entries show just how immature some of them are.”
insulting the audience isn’t really an effective way to get respect for your argument.

Giles says: “We know that the majority of Modblog contributors are low in intelligence but the reactions to this and previous similar entries show just how immature some of them are.”
I’d have to agree with gretta.
I know that Giles could care less about who he steps on while making his points, and such comments clearly show that.
The arguments lose major effectiveness since they’re shouted from the top of a very high horse. Most of us low-intelligence, immature, Neanderthals can’t make out a word your saying, Giles.

Giles…did it ever occur to you that bruises can be procured in any way other than domestic violence? I mean, I’ve had my fair share of fights, and given my fair share of black eyes and split lips. I also used to box, and got some pretty nasty bruising from that…and yes I’m a woman. I fought with women, boxed with women etc. Why do you always assume that men are the only ones who would dare to hurt a woman? Heck, I got a black eye when I was swimming and someone kicked me in the face by accident. I am also a professional face-painter, for kids parties and theatre performances. Practicing and improving your make-up skills, and posting these for others to see does not, in any way, implicate or act as advocate to domestic violence. Having done make-up for a show about vampires I practiced on myself, and posted a very gory bruised eye, split lip and bloody nose on the internet so others could comment on whether it was convincing or not. It most definitely wasn’t posted in order to convince people that I was backing or making light of domestic violence. Think before you type such narrow-minded views my friend 🙂

Thank you, I was thinking of similar circumstances, but for someone who has actually done so to say it is even better. Now obviously from some of the first comments, it wasn’t obvious that it was makeup to everyone (I wasn’t sure either), which speaks well for her skill, so perhaps if it were better indicated from the go Giles wouldn’t have tried to make such a huge deal out of this. I don’t know the reasons behind Burcu practicing this particular use of makeup, but I certainly understand why she would display the pictures proudly, and see what the reactions are. I mean if it were for a specific reason, she shouldn’t leave her work untested until the last minute and hope she did well
Now Giles, I don’t think your opinions on violence against women are wrong (I personally can’t stand to see a woman hurt, I know sexist and chauvinistic, but hey), but this really isn’t the place for your preaching and ranting since no one here is advocating, making light of, or in any way encouraging such violence. Sure there were a couple jokes made, but you took it way out of hand and try to make it seem like everyone could care less if women are beaten and abused. As I’ve read it, there are quite a few women on here that say they can take care of themselves and seem offended by your assumptions that you need to stand up for them.
It seems like most of the time I see your comments here on Modblog, you’re stirring up anger and arguments, hardly the actions of someone as civilized and enlightened as you seem to try to portray yourself as. I’m not trying to offend you, there have been a few times that I’ve found your arguments and views to be solid and respectable, as I’m sure I would in this case if it were in the proper forum for the discussion you’re trying to have.

It is clear that there is a LOT of work still to do with some people, it goes some way to further understanding why changes in society and it’s values takes a long time.

Giles do you also believe pornography is degrading to women? Do you by any chance believe watching violence on TV makes you more likely to commit an assault or murder? Honestly you seem to be stirring up shit just to do it.

I’m afraid I gotta agree with Giles on the “told her twice” joke thing.
Of course it’s a joke, but the fact that you’re supposed to know it’s a joke because it’s such a well-worn joke, and if you don’t laugh then you’re causing trouble or not “fitting in and going along, ha ha” disturbs me.
I’m rather new to that joke (the first time I saw it was as a tattoo, in fact, and I had to go look it up because apparently I was the only one who didn’t get it) and so maybe it’s a bit fresh, but… yeah.

Not to be a dick but as a makeup artist I think it’s a pretty alright job though if a black eye is old enough to be black then it would be pooling around the bottom of the eye and much less on the top. Blood + gravity = black eye.
And violence against females is never a joke, my best friend works at a rape crisis center/women’s shelter and there’s a rise of young girls inflicting violence on each other in the high school age. I’m pretty PC but have a sense of humor until a joke is being made at a victim’s expense.

This is ridiculous. This picture is cool, it doesnt say anything about domestic violence at all. What the hell is the problem? the reason problems go unsolved LIKE domestic violence is people are fighting the wrong battle. Stop arguing about an artsy picture on modblog that has nothing to do with what you’re fighting and go find a real problem to fight about.

Nope, why do you ask.

The reason that people assume this picture relates to domestic violence is because of the context of several recent modblog posts. The one by Lane with the “reversed roles” and the “Told her Twice” type tattoos. Domestic violence has been mocked repeatedly on Modblog and it’s disgusting.

Err… I’d say the reason it suggests domestic violence is her facial expression. She doesn’t like like “SWEET! I just had so much fun in the pit!”.
She looks like “My life sucks.”
