The best thing I've heard all day...

"You get one real shot at being you, that’s it, and to live life, not just merely exist takes courage."

Thanks, Shamus Greenman for that.

Last night, in a dream, I saw myself in the future telling my children about living through the War. What a weird concept. It's amazing how history repeats itself.

The Tao of Zen

I brought my zafu, zabuton, and seiza bench to work today. I am going to sit zazen (seated, Zen meditation) at lunch time and probably again after work. There is a clarity that meditation provides, that I cannot describe fully. By letting go, it allows me to hear conversations in offices in the floor above me. It allows me to sense the slightest pressure change in a room, indicating the presence of a new body. Letting go with Zen (Buddhism), and becoming one with the Tao that is all things (Taoism), has made me a fine observer.

But when I came into work this morning with a knot in my neck, my boss suggested Seppuku. Sounds like a perminant solution to a temporary problem. I seem to be comfortable with any culture that isn't my own. How many words in this diary entry did YOU have to look up?

Here's a question...

Do you think part of the problem with American society, is that we have no shared culture? Americans are a group of individuals... Perhaps that is why we argue, pick fights, and have the crime issues we have?

Hello By Lionel Ritchie

I've been alone with you inside my mind
And in my dreams I've kissed your lips a thousand times
I sometimes see you pass outside my door
Hello, is it me you're looking for?

I can see it in your eyes
I can see it in your smile
You're all I've ever wanted, (and) my arms are open wide
'Cause you know just what to say
And you know just what to do
And I want to tell you so much, I love you ...

I long to see the sunlight in your hair
And tell you time and time again how much I care
Sometimes I feel my heart will overflow
Hello, I've just got to let you know

'Cause I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely, or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart
For I haven't got a clue
But let me start by saying, I love you ...

Hello, is it me you're looking for?
'Cause I wonder where you are
And I wonder what you do
Are you somewhere feeling lonely or is someone loving you?
Tell me how to win your heart
For I haven't got a clue
But let me start by saying ... I love you

Do people think with accents? My uncle moved to Texas a number of years back, and he has a Texan accent now. We argue about whether he has the accent, or whether I do. Nut. He said Los Angelinos tend to annunciate every word, but in a lazy tone. He sounds like a banjo.
